Abstract 

The period in which the  highland in the  eastern Black Sea is the  most lively and the  most 

visited by both domestic and foreign tourists is the term June-September. During this period, both 

the classical and pedestrian activities are continuing in the highland and activities aimed at tourism 

and recreation are increasing. The festivals, which are based on the ancient times of the highland and 

often with the participation of the people of the region, are today attended by many more people from 

outside the region with the development of mass media and transportation and organizations with a 

greater  number  of  activities  and  a  higher  level  of  publicity  are  organized.  This  makes  positive 

contributions to the promotion  of the  highland, contributing to the  improvement  of transportation, 

food and beverage and accommodation infrastructure. In this context, in our study, the effects of Ovit 

Highland festivals on Ispir-Ikizdere Road, which are connected to Ikizdere district of Rize city, have 

been  examined  in  various  aspects,  especially  economic.  It  was  preferred  case  study  as  a  research 

method in this study. There were used travel-observation and interviews as data collection method. 

Within  the  scope  of  our  study,  field  surveys  were  conducted  in  Ovit  Highland  in  2019  summer 

periods and highland environment and Festivals were examined in detail. The study was shaped in 

the light of the information obtained from the field researches. In our research, it is understood that 

Ovit Highland has the potential to be evaluated with its great location, interesting natural and cultural 

appeal and its festivals. Ovit Highland festivals are also being carried out with an increasingly live 

and  highly  impact  organization.  However  it  appears  that  this  potential  has  not  been  adequately 

utilized. Ovit highland is improving and promoting its touristic infrastructure and it can become an 

even more important highland in the upcoming.
