Collectivist and individualistic cultures and tendencies
of economic and spiritual growth
Summary
Sociologists and psychologists of developed countries consider human’s psychics as the main factor of social dynamics. In their opinion temperament, will, character, quick understanding, activity, courage, sense of responsibility for own life etc. are those functions, which stipulate human’s success and development of country as a whole. Industrial culture, or in other words culture of developed countries is called “western”, industrial, “individualistic.”
Material wealth and unseen technical progress are the consequences of “breach of any social relations”. Humans allow themselves to leave family, relatives, friends, job and even church for achievement of their own aims, and this fact causes personal success and finally the development of country.
Results of community studies are widely used for confirmation of these considerations; those humans, which themselves determine their own “ego”, are self-confident and believe in own abilities, as usually study well, aren’t afraid of unemployment, they make a lot of money, don’t drink a lot, and don’t complain on health.
The main value of collectivist countries is the education of interdependent people. Main objective of the society is achievement of harmony with others, acquisition of their supporting and love, but not the development of their own abilities, which push most people to passive life.
Disadvantage of collectivist psychics is the wish to lay the promises on the others; collectivist human doesn’t aspire to develop his abilities; as a consequence he spends the most productive years of life for nothing, while others decide his problems.
Such assistance becomes very expensive to human – he doesn’t form as full-fledged person. All his actions are determined by the authority of its patron. Beside the fact that his making is very problematic, in the course of time development of neuroses is quite possible because of conscious or unconscious dissatisfaction with himself.
When this situation is typical for some society, it becomes the reason of slowdown in the economic development of country; it creates obstacles for innovatory initiatives, since new ideas always appear among young people, while reins of life are in hands of conservatively thinking generation.
