II.                                   CANADA

 

Canada  is  one  of  the  largest  countries  in  the  world.  It  covers  more 

than  one  third  of  North  America.  Canada  spreads  from  the  Atlantic  tight 

across  the  prairies  and  the  Rocky  Mountains  to  British  Columbia  and

Northwards to the bare but beautiful Yukon and the ice-covered islands of 

the  Arctic.  It  is  a  land  of  thick  forests  tall  mountains,  green  river  valleys 

and  huge  grasslands.  Though  Canada  has  a  large  area  it  has  few  people. 

Most  Canadians  live  on  a  strip  of  land  less  than  320  km.  Wide,  along  the 

southern border. Canada has some mineral resource: among them are coal, 

gold,  silver,  copper,  lead  and  uranium.  Canada's  rivers  are  a nother 

valuable  resource.  Over  73%  of  all  the  electricity  used  in  Canada  homes 

and factories comes from hydroelectric plants.
