37.4 be getting to (past continuous)
37.4.1 Kenny is talking to his friend Trevor about why he moved from his village to a big
city.
Trevor: So how long have you been living in the city.
Kenny: It must be five years now.
Trevor: Really? Already five years? Wow. I've been here six. I moved
here for work, but what made you move here? I thought you liked living in
the countryside.
Kenny: It's difficult being gay in a small village. The gossiping and
discrimination was getting to me. I wanted to live somewhere where I
could be free and open.
Trevor: I can understand that. Well, I'm glad you moved to the city!
Kenny: Me, too!
37.4.2 Jennifer used to live in the suburbs, but she decided to move to the city center.
