LONDON

London is the capital of Great Britain. It is situated on the Thames River. It is a large industrial and cultural center. It is one of the largest cities in the world. London is two thousand years old. Its population is about 9 million people. London has got three parts: the City, the West End, and the East End.

The oldest part of London is the City. For almost 2000 years the City has been the center of commerce and finance of the country. There are many offices, banks and firms in this part of London.
The West End is the center of London, many famous museums, theatres, parks, palaces, hotels, big shops and other places of interests are there, for example, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall and others. The best known and largest park is Hyde Park.
The East End is the eastern part of London. It is the working- class area with docks, industrial plants and factories. London is not only a large city but also a seaport.
