1 Agree or disagree
In essays of this kind you will sometimes be asked a direct question, such as:

Some people think children are given too much homework these days.
What are your views?
Sometimes you might just be given a statement. In this case it is implied that you should
agree or disagree with the statement. For example:
Everyone should pay the same rate of tax.
You have the option in this kind of task to completely agree, to completely disagree, or to
partly agree. However, if you choose to partly agree you have to be very specific about which
parts of the statement you agree with and which you don't. This can make writing your essay
more complicated.
