The works of the first period expose the vices of capitalist society. They also reveal human
psychology as a product of this society. There are no heroes in his plays. The principal character is society
itself. He exposes the Government, the Church and the marriage, and he points out that there is no
democracy behind the Government, no religious feeling for the Church and love behind marriage.
The second period began with the end of the war and ended in the middle of the 20
th
century. In the
works of this period Shaw goes deeper into politics. The problem of class struggle, as necessary for the
