Lyric Poetry
• the most popular form of poetry today
• characterized by the expression of the speaker’s innermost feelings, thoughts, and imagination.
• lyric a stringed musical instrument, lyre- was used in classical and medieval times to accompany a singer. • lyric poems are melodic melody not derived from a lyre but from the words and their arrangement the words that accompany the melody in a song are called lyrics.
