The article “How to develop teacher presence and command attention in class “of Kerra Maddern is about how teachers should behave in front of students, what their mental and physical state should be in order to build self-confidence and being able to teach effectively in the classroom.

The writer stated so many experts’ ideas,for instance, in terms of Mark Almond, a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University,looking physically confident will help teachers to create presence and agood posture makes a person look strong and commanding. According to Guy Michaels, nerves can prevent teachers from communicating effectively so teachers should grow comfortable with using stillness and silence as part of their repertoire.

The article shows us how important for teachers “eye-contact” , using the space of the classroom differently, being like a storyteller for students,varying language: using active verbs to create excitement and an emotional response,Creating anticipation or intrigue with props or timing.

In addition, there are given advices how should be teachers’ tones,gesture using,pausing,relaxing and exchanging energy with students,using facial expressions.

To put in a nutshell,the gist of the article to explain teachers how to show proffessionality and behave like a real lider themselves in a class in order to teach and control their students.The article is definitely helpful for all teachers who lose their self confidence while teaching.
