Task 1: Write the functions of the following tools in your own words
Reversible ratchet driver
A ratchet incorporates a reversible ratcheting mechanism which allows the user to pivot the tool back and forth to turn its socket instead of removing and repositioning a wrench to do so.
Screwdriver
Screwdriver, tool, usually hand-operated, for turning screws with slotted heads. For screws with one straight diametral slot cut across the head, standard screwdrivers with flat blade tips and in a variety of sizes are used.
Hex key
Hex keys, commonly known as Allen keys/wrenches in the UK and various other countries, are a very simple hand tool of the general spanner and socket family, used for tightening and loosening hexagonal bolts and other compatible fasteners.
Pliers
Pliers are made in various shapes and sizes and for many uses. Some are used for gripping something round like a pipe or rod, some are used for twisting wires, and others are designed to be used for a combination of tasks including cutting wire.
Wire cutter/stripper
A wire stripper is designed to remove the outer jacket, or insulation, of a wire but does not have the ability to cut the wire correctly. A wire cutter, on the other hand, has the ability to cleanly cut a wire leaving it prepped for stripping. The issue with a cutter, however, is that they cannot strip wires.
Insertion/extraction clipper
What is the function of insertion extraction tools?
These insertion/extraction tools are designed to insert and remove crimp type and threaded circular contacts from connectors. Each tool tip is color coded to indicate the purpose (insertion or extraction) and the size of the contact
Tweezer Tweezers (or Forceps) are an extention of our fingers and they allow us to grab, grip, place, remove or hold items that are too small or delicate for our fingers to manipulate. The size and shape of the items we grab, grip, place or hold necessitate the need for a variety of tweezer tip styles and shapes
8. Anti-static wrist strap
Wrist straps are the first line of defence against ESD, the most common personnel grounding device used, and are required to be used if the operator is sitting. Wrist straps help to disperse static electricity generated from a person safely to ground.
