Memorising facts is the most important way to succeed in education.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
As there are a range of other factors, I do not agree with the statement which says that the only key to successful education is to memorize important information.
On the one hand, I can understand that learning important facts is incredibly helpful for students in order to master certain subjects, thus, improve their overall academic performance. A clear example would be history. For students who want to master such subject, it is essential to learn all the events, names, dates, and places that belong to the past because they are what this subject is built upon. If students do not learn such important facts by heart, it will prevent them succeeding in history, which will also directly affect their learning progress in other subject areas.
Despite this, memorizing facts alone does not secure students’ academic success because there are other important factors which should not be overlooked. For example, without teachers who are highly qualified and skilled and who can conduct high quality and informative lessons, students will surely be left behind. These teachers also know how to work with students both inside and outside the class by collaborating with their parents. Therefore, when we are concerned about children’s success in education, we should not ignore the key role teachers play.
Moreover, students’ health is also equally crucial. This means that schools should provide a range of sports facilities where students can go to stay healthy, which helps them to be free from stress and learn better. They should also be served by school canteens which only aim to sell meals that offer a high content of nutritional value. Lastly, it is also a good idea to implement “no phone” policy in the school zone which offers distraction-free learning settings for students, and this is important as many people fail their subjects owing to the lack of concentration during the lessons.
Although memorizing various facts helps students to some extent, there do seem to be other wide ranging factors which guarantee their academic success.

Governments should make people responsible for looking after their own local environment.
Do you agree or disagree?
It is stated that people should be made responsible for taking care of the place they live, but I do not agree with this statement and instead offer several alternatives that can be incredibly helpful in keeping ou local environment clean.
It would an unwise idea to ask people to look after the environment of their town or city. Why is this? First of all, many people today work long hours and thus get tired at the end, so asking them to clean their local area after they have finished their work can be mentally and physically demanding. This is also true of young people who are supposed to study hard, and although they have enough time after school or university, it is better for them to either work part-time or learn more about their subjects matters.
So what I can suggest to keep our local environment clean is for the government to ensure that businesses, whether international or local ones, offer products that are environmentally friendly, for example, their goods should come with packages that can be either reused or easily recycled. Local governments can also return a certain amount of money to customers who have bought certain products, such as drinks, and placed their bottles in special bins, and this method has already found to be effective in Finland.
Moreover, people are not responsible for taking care of their local environment does not mean they should ignore their responsibilities. They can take several steps to ensure that their local area is clean. To give just one example, they should always feel eager to try to pick up any rubbish they see in public places and place them in bins installed there. By doing so they will live in a clean area and set a good example to young people who will follow them and be raised in a way which will make them environment-concerned individuals in the long run.
Forcing people to look after their local environment is not a wise idea, but I think this can be solved with the help of the local government and the proper moral and example of the local people.

Because many children are not able to learn foreign languages, schools should not force them to learn foreign languages.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is said that children should not forcefully be made to learn a new language in schools as many of them are not gifted, but I completely disagree with this point of view.
The statement which says today’s children cannot learn a foreign language does not make sense, I think. This is because learning a new language has never been easier than now thanks to the availability of the internet and budget-friendly devices. Because of these opportunities, children can have easy access to cheaper online language courses, or if they do not want to purchase them, they can simply use YouTube on their devices to acquire their target language. These also allow today’s language teachers to conduct exciting lessons by signing up for special language teaching courses where they will be given instructions on using a wide range of methods, all of which makes it easier for children to learn and speak in another language.
Since it is essential for children to be bilinguals, it is sometimes a good idea to force them in this case for several reasons. First, learning a foreign language boosts their progress in other subject areas, and a clear example for this is a school child who is trying to master mathematics. By being able to speak, read and write in English, for example, he or she can access Khan Academy where high skilled teachers help students with their math problems online. Moreover, by writing and speaking fluently in another language, children will have the opportunity to study at top universities in oversees countries. Finally, knowing several languages makes children more culture-wise, which will help them to succeed at work by easily interacting with people of different cultures, values and beliefs.
As acquiring foreign languages is easy and also, key to success in schools and workplaces, I do believe that they should be forced to learn one if it is what it takes to make them polyglots.

Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal of money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some people think it is unfair that individuals who do many important jobs, such as doctors, teachers and firemen, are paid far less than athletes. I think this is a wrong approach and believe that the amount of money people earn depends on how much work they put into.
It is natural for people to think that sports professionals get paid a lot for little they do. They just appear once in an advertisement for a few seconds and make plenty of money. A clear example is Ronaldo, apparently the best soccer player, who has recently posted himself wearing a Nike jacket on Instagram and has been paid over five million dollars. However, those people feel this is unfair due to the fact that such celebrities do not spend many hours studying in the library as teachers and doctors who are paid little regardless of their knowledge and skill. Also, fire workers risk their own lives to save other lives, yet they are paid little money.
I believe life is fair, and I am sure that it pays off for people who work hard. For example, many athletes make fortunes simply because they sacrifice their lives to entertain the world, they are not allowed to drink, smoke and eat any meal they want. However, people of other professions are not exposed to such restrictions. Many companies also make billions of dollars through celebrity endorsements, which is fair to share a small piece of that with the athletes who show up in their advertisements. Moreover, since God has given them special sporty talents, why bother to criticize how much they are worth?
I also believe that regardless of their profession, people can be incredibly successful, thus, make millions if they do the work they are required. For instance, I always hear about teachers who have put a sheer amount of hard work and time into what they do and eventually reach a pinnacle of success. The teachers who work at Cambridge, Oxford, and many other top universities make plenty of money not only buy teaching, but by selling their books. This is also true of many doctors whom I know come to work by private jet or Rolls Royce.
In short, hard work means everyone can be hugely successful, and whether they want or not, money becomes what is known as a byproduct. Again, life is fair!

In some countries, there are fewer young people who listen to or play classical music these days.
Why is this?
Should young people be encouraged to play or perform such music?
Surely the popularity of classical music among young people in some countries is decreasing, and I think there are three key reasons why this is happening. However, they would enjoy what classical songs have to offer if they listened to them,
Today, young people spend plenty of time on social media where they are only exposed to modern music. For example, their favorite singers perform songs in modern genres, such as Jazz, Pop, Rock, and Rap which means they have little or no exposure to songs created by Mozart or Beethoven.
Also, classical songs are not listened or performed by young people due to the fact that they are not mature enough to understand and contemplate upon every word or beat of theirs at a deeper level, making them turn to what they can understand, such as songs sung by Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift or Drake.
Finally, classical music is not what suits young people’s lifestyle. They are eager to listen to rock or pop songs in different occasions: when they are in the gym working out, doing the work around the house or attending parties. Only songs that rev them up are listened or sung as opposed to classical ones.
However, Rock, Pop and Jazz songs are nowhere near to classical ones according to science. Listening to Mozart, for example, has been found to improve creativity, enhance critical thinking, and boost feel-good hormones in the brain. By contrast, other songs that are famous among young people are often linked to depression, melancholy and violence.
Although there are several factors that are allowing modern songs outcompete classical ones, it is the latter that hugely benefits young people, and thus they should be encouraged to listen to such songs quite frequently.

For a long time art has been considered an essential part of all cultures in the world. However, nowadays, people’s values have changed, and we tend to consider science, technology and business more important than arts.
What do you think are the causes of this?
What can be done to draw people’s attention to art?
People always seek comfort in life, and therefore value the things that enable them to get what they want. For this reason, the important role of art has been replaced by business, technology and science. However, this situation should not be left on its own.
Generally, life has never become more comfortable than ever before, and every aspect of it has been enhanced due to the hard work of scientists, engineers and business people. For example, many diseases, such as cancer or AIDS, which were previously thought to be incurable are now easily treated and patients are undergoing pain-free operations. People can also now entertain themselves by watching their favorite movies and videos from the comfort of their homes, or stay in touch with their friends regardless of where they are physically located.
In addition, electric cars have been invented and massively produced by entrepreneurs like Elon Musk around the world with the aim of tackling global warming and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. People have also understood that the way to afford all the luxuries in life is to start and run their own businesses. When compared to the above reasons, art does not seem to benefit us great deal, and we, therefore, are turning away from it.
However, I can still suggest two main approaches to take to promote art. One of them is to invest in art lessons in schools in order to make them more fun and interesting for children whose live tomorrow will be accompanied by what they learn today. Also, governments across the world should organize a range of art festivals and try to have celebrities, who can reach out to millions of people, involved in them. These ways can ensure that the future of art is secured.
In summary, the fields which are making the world a better place still outcompete art in most cases, but we should still try to protect it with the help of schools and celebrities.

Some people think that the government should increase tax on unhealthy food to encourage people to start eating healthily.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Following a proper diet is always essential for people in order to thrive in all parts of their lives. Governments understand that it is hard to make them eat a balanced diet, so they often try to tax food which is considered to be unhealthy.
However, in my opinion, by this way we will not be able to achieve the goal we have set.
Why does taxing alone not work in motivating people to eat healthy food? Although imposing taxes on unhealthy food and food items may discourage some people, a lot of them still choose to purchase them despite their high price. For example, the price of fast food rises each year, so has the number of people who eat it, which means people who have addicted cannot be resisted by the help of taxing. Therefore, I think taxing unhealthy foods is not a one-size-fits-all solution.
How can we persuade people into following a healthy diet without taxes? I can suggest a number of steps we can take to tackle this unpleasant situation. First of all, schools, colleges and companies should be asked to have own canteens and cafes where students and workers can buy healthy meals and snacks at lower prices. In addition, schools and colleges should include special subjects about healthy eating, and the importance of this act in their prosperity as a student, employee, or parent.
Moreover, employees who bring their home-cooked meals to work with themselves should also be entitled to various incentives and perks, which will also automatically motivate their coworkers to follow the same – healthy – lifestyle. Governments can also ban certain advertisements which show “mouthwatering” burgers and crispy chips, which have already been found to be deteriorating for our health. Lastly, celebrities who advertise unhealthy food products should be penalized severely, as they are followed by millions of people.
In short, since taxing unhealthy food is not the complete answer, we should tackle this issue on a much larger scale.

Throughout history, male leaders have led us into violence and conflict. If a society is governed by female leaders it could be more peaceful.
Do you agree or disagree?
Over time, a lot of violent events and conflicts have happened, and at the centre of them have been mainly male leaders. However, I still do not agree with the idea that we need females leaders to make the world a peaceful place for everyone.
On the one hand, I admit that male leaders have caused several global violent events due to the fact that they have had the desire to be dominant across the globe. They have attempted to occupy more lands, oil, gold, military and other treasures, and a clear example is Adolf Hitler, the man behind the World War II which claimed millions of lives for his greed. Studies have also found that men are prone to be more violent and aggressive than women. Therefore, I understand why some individuals feel that male leaders are unable to maintain peace.
The facts which have been mentioned above do not apply to all male leaders who have several personal traits and qualities that make them true leaders. They are often less emotional, kind and that are hard to be deceived which are helpful in making harsh decisions for the sake of billions of people. For example, although it might seem cruel, I support Russia and the USA which ended the lives of several hundreds of terrorists of the ISIS in order to provide peace for billions of innocent people. However, if female leaders had been in that situation, they would have not supported this idea, causing even more naïve lives to be claimed.
In short, I believe in gender equality which means I have nothing against female leaders, but when we are considering peace of eight billion people, I think it should be better left to true male leaders.

There are different methods businesses use to increase their sales.
What are the different ways companies use to increase sales?
Which one is the most effective?
Over time, companies have created a wide range of ways to boost their sales which is incredibly important for them to make profits and thus keep serving their customers. Although they use various methods for this purpose, quality is what I think is should be the most important aspect.
It is first not right to ignore advertising, which is now the most essential ingredient, that helps companies to increase the number of goods and services they sell. So businesses should attach greater importance to social networking sites, such as Facebook and Instagram, where they can reach out to billions of customers. They should also invest billions of dollars in celebrity endorsements, allowing them to make plenty of buyers aware of their current or newly launched products and services.
Companies can also learn about their competitors in the market, and the ins and outs of their offers. For instance, when I was studying in Malaysia, our teacher, who used to teach a subject called Business Analysis, told us about a case where the employees of a big company were caught in a landfill site analyzing whose products were sold more based on the thrown bottles. This is important because if a company is outperformed by its competitor, its customers are likely to switch, automatically dropping its sales.
Despite them, I think working on improving the product is what seriously boosts sales. A few extremely successful companies, such Apple and Amazon, understand this, so their customers are ready to have their product regardless of their price, which has always been quite high. These companies are not reluctant to spend billions of dollars on researching and developing (R&D) what they offer to the market. They constantly run online surveys and check customers’ reviews to ensure their products meet with the needs and wants of their customers.
In short, I understand that companies should invest in advertising their products and carrying out researches to dissect their rivals’ products and services, but having the most user-friendly product is what makes them extremely successful.

Many people are afraid to leave their home because of crime. Some believe that more action should be taken to prevent crime. While others feel that little action can be done to stop crime.
What is your view?
One of the main reasons why people often do not step out of their homes to engage in their daily outdoor activities is crime. However, I do not think this is happening to a lot of people, and I believe that crime, whether major or minor, can be tackled with correct approaches.
It is not realistic that many people are staying at home without going out, because of crimes which are happening where they live. They surely are going to school, college and work, and their security is highly provided by their authorities. However, we sometimes hear some news where it is told that people who live in a few regions, usually rural and suburban areas, are exposed to high levels of crimes, making them afraid of leaving their homes and doing outdoor activities which they normally would do a while ago.
The crimes happening those places can be tackled, but we first need to pay attention to what type of illegal acts are occurring there. If they are major crimes, such as murdering, sexually harassing, massive shooting and such, the authority should entitle the criminals to a few decades of imprisonment, or life sentences. By contrast, if minor crimes are considered, people who have committed them should be penalized and asked to engage in community services. The punishments they receive should be broadcast in all means of the media to set a good example to other crime-prone individuals.
I can also suggest another way of addressing this issue: we should make sure people are financially able to access to all social privileges, such as healthcare, education, food, transport and accommodation. This is important because if we dissect the root cause of crimes, we can see that many of them have been committed by individuals who had no access to the above mentioned basic needs. If people lack the money they need, they experience the lack of education, thus, do not respect and obey laws which then makes it easy for them to turn to crime.
In short, not all but some people are at home 24/7 scared of leaving their homes, but their conditions can be bettered in several ways, and the most effective one of them is finance.
Written under the exam condition which means there can be a few errors!

Some people say that it is possible to tell a lot about a person’s culture and character from their choice of clothes.
Do you agree or disagree?
The way a person dresses can show his or her way of life as well as character which I think can be both a right and wrong approach to take.
There are reasons why I feel it might be wrong to judge a person’s culture or character through his dress because there can be a number of external factors. One of them is that the majority of people today consume plenty of social media where they tend to admire and follow their favorite celebrities and their dressing choice. Neither their character nor culture is able to stop them in this case.
Also, these people place a great deal of importance on their job, so they may sacrifice their culture and character for the type of clothes the company they work for requires. For example, many of my friends work in the bank where they are required to show up as serious and responsible as possible by dressing in a formal way, say suite and tie. Although they are naturally entertaining individuals, they obey to their workplace rules.
However, there are individuals who are loyal to their own culture and personality, and I experienced this when I travelled to Dubai and India. People there are exposed to a lot of media which means they have their favorite singers, actors and actresses, and they work in formal positions in a range of organizations, but they still wear hijabs, sarees, and long tunics. This explains why we are sometimes accurate while we are judging others based on their choice of clothes.
In short, the kind of clothes people choose to wear can be a right and wrong tool for us when we determine the way they live and behave.

Many people around the world are poor.
Why is this happening?
Can you suggest any ways to tackle this situation?
It is true that many people across the globe are experiencing extreme poverty, and I think the only reason and answer for this unfortunate situation is governments in those areas.
I believe the main reason for poverty is linked to unfair governments where powerful leaders exploit natural resources, such as gold, oil, cotton and others for their own advantage. Instead, they are supposed to export these precious commodities and give back to their society by investing in education, healthcare, housing, and retirement plans. A clear example is Nigeria, a country that ranks first in storing oil, but its citizens are exposed to a high level of poverty. Also, such corrupted governments throttle little but innovative businesses and allow monopolies to enjoy bank loans. As a result, they set their own prices with the aim of generating as much income as possible, instead of selling their goods and services at reasonable prices to enhance ordinary people’s lives. They also enjoy tax loopholes which is why rich get richer and poor get poorer.
Although this situation can be solved, it takes great deal of courage from the citizens of such corrupted governments. One way is for them to engage in protests where they should bravely ask their leaders to step down and replace with responsible and caring ones who will hopefully export the “nation’s” natural resources. However, as opposed to the previous corrupted authorities, they invest the income generated from export in education, which is the key to solving poverty of all kind. By this way, everyone, regardless of their financial status, will have the chance of accessing high-quality education, thus, get a good job which will improve the financial aspect of their lives. Moreover, such caring leaders will also fund young and innovative businesses rather than monopolies, as a result of which people will be offered goods and services at cheaper prices.
It seems clear that poverty around the world cannot be eradicated unless the corrupted leaders step down. If this happens, we will not see a single person sleeping on the street and begging for money to buy food.

Many believe that it is important to protect all wild animals, while others think that it is important to protect some, not all of them.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is hard to believe, but some people have already started to question about whether some animals that live in the wildlife should be protected or not. Whatever the reason, I think we need to save them.
On the one hand, some people think that wild animals should not to be saved, and the first reason they give for this argument is that governments and other authorities should not shoulder such financial burden. They feel that it will be wiser to spend this very money on other essential projects, such as education, healthcare, and space exploration. What is more, some wild animals are naturally destined to die and they have such cycle, so why should spend billions on saving them if their death is inevitable?
Despite this, I strongly support others who believe in the protection of the wildlife, and there are plenty of convincing reasons available. First, it is not logical to think this way because wild animals also have the same right as humans to live freely, and it is not up to humans to decide their life. We should pay as much attention we pay to ourselves to these animals. It is also crucial to save them due to the fact that we will never be able to achieve a perfect balance in the ecosystem if we lose them because they are strong part of the this chain vital for the planet’s survival.
In addition, there are certain wild animals whose poison is extremely important for the human survival and a clear example is the snake. Many drugs do not leave any effect on people if such precious animal’s substance is not added in them. So if it were not for such poisons, many patients would not be living among us today. My final point is that humans need such wild friends in order to be entertained. For example, millions of people around the world are thrilled to travel to destinations where they can be exposed to the wild world, such as the Amazon forest and the Savannah in Africa. Many people will lose their desire to travel if wild animals are not protected.
Some people have ideas against the protection of wild animals and their reasons may seem legitimate, but I by no means accept them because such creatures are what makes our world a great place to live.

Televised talent shows have become popular in many societies today.
Are these shows a good method of finding talented people, or are they just entertainment?
The number of people who watch talent shows has increased over the past years. I think the reason for their popularity is that they both discover gifted people and entertain their viewers.
In my opinion, such popular shows are helpful in discovering people who have been gifted with special abilities, such unique voice, magic tricks and others. This way they give these individuals the chance of appearing on the stage and sharing their unique abilities with the world. These shows also have their own website where undiscovered talents go and apply for the audition. Therefore, I think shows like British Got Talent are incredibly useful in finding and promoting talents.
I also believe they can be a means of entertainment, but it does not mean that this is the only reason that they exist. It is the human nature that people are always thrilled to experience something they have not tried or sampled before. For this reason talent shows are exactly what they want. In fact, many people pay for tickets and attend these shows to get this experience first-hand, while others subscribe to their channels on the internet or television so that they do not miss out on the new episodes. From my point of view, it is apparently wrong to say that they exist only in order to entertain people.
To sum up, the shows that help to discover and promote talents have become quite famous due to the fact that they live up to their names as well as give people a sense of entertainment.

Movies and computer games containing violence are popular. Some people say they have a negative effect on society and should be censored. Others say that they are just harmless relaxation.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
It is believed that violence can be promoted and thus society is affected by computer games and movies. However, I do believe this is not true.
I agree with people who think video games and films that show violence do not really cause it in a real life, and there are several reasons for this. First, these materials are carefully checked and permitted by certain authorities who are in charge of this. If the movies and games do not meet certain criteria successfully, they are banned before they are launched. Even if they comply with such requirements, they are required to have an age policy and warning which means children who are under the legal age or impressionable are not allowed to access them. However, some people claim that these movies and games have been promoting violence and affecting many communities, but this is relatively small. Instead, they should seem to be a great source of relaxation, and I have been accessing them for many years now, but have never got involved in violence.
If governments are rather concerned about figuring out the ways that do cause violence, there are some that I can present. First, it is genes that have already proved by study after study that if a person’s parent has had a criminal record, it is likely that the child is violence-prone, and there is little that the government can do something about it. Another reason that results in a high level of violence is where people live. For example, if young people live in the area where violent activities take place quite frequently, it is apparent to say that they will become involved in these acts. Finally, poverty is another reason that is clearly behind violence in many cases. This is because of the fact that a person who has little or no income to provide his and his family’s own needs suffers from a high level of stress, which makes it easy for him to get engaged in violent acts.
In short, I think computer games and movies have been created to relax people rather than promote violence, for which there are other reasons out there.

Some people think personal happiness is directly related to economic success, while others believe this depends on other factors.
Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
The statement tells that for some, personal joy comes from money, while for others, it is linked to other several factors. Personally, I find that the latter idea makes more sense.
I, on the one hand, can understand that personal happiness is connected with money. This is because when people have enough money in their bank account, they will be able to afford their dreams and have all the luxuries in their life. By making plenty of money, they will also be given a high level of safety and security, which are also believed to be another component of happiness.
However, I do believe health is what contributes to personal joy. For example, can a person who has been suffering from a cancer go out and take outdoor exercise breathing the fresh air, or can they pay a visit to their relatives or do their passionate job? The answer for both is no. Hence, I feel that true happiness comes from staying healthy, and if we ask anyone who has had a serious health issue before, they, by all means, will agree on this.
Moreover, healthy relationships have the power of helping a person feel a sense of happiness at a deeper level. Whether they are wealthy or poor, everyone heavily depends on others, whether be family members, friends and relatives, and this is important for them to thrive and be spiritually and mentally sound. On the contrary, poor relationships are what do ruin people’s personal lives. Therefore, I think having lovely relationships is directly proportional to personal contentment.
So, it has become apparent that although personal happiness comes from money, how people feel happy does not fully depend on it, but other factors, such as being healthy and having robust relationships.

In many schools and universities today, women have a tendency to study the humanities (such as the arts and languages) while men more often major in science related subjects. Some believe this tendency should be changed.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is said that more and more males are studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM subjects) while their gender counterparts are opting for subjects like the arts and language. Some people think this inclination should be altered and I completely agree with this.
In my opinion, there are reasons why this gap in choosing the above mentioned subjects between males and females exists. First of all, there is so-called “masculine culture” which means STEM subjects can only be learnt by males, who have always been believed to be persistent, brave and hardworking. By contrast, the abilities of the women have always been underestimated, thus, believed that humanities are the subjects that are best for them to study due to their gender and nature.
Moreover, from the very beginning, men are exposed to technology and science more than women, who should always be busy doing the tasks around the house, looking after their siblings and even sometimes dropping out of school, lacking both the time and resource to learn STEM subjects. For example, my parents bought me my first laptop when I was 10, and my sisters were not allowed to touch it, but were busy cleaning the house. This explains why women often choose to learn languages over science or technology.
I believe that women should not be limited to subjects like arts or languages only, but should also be competing their gender counterparts in scientific fields. The reason why I think so is because many studies have already proved that women have the same, or even better, learning abilities than men. This means that rather than engaging them in minor tasks around the house, women should be given an early exposure to technologies and resources, which will help them great deal in mastering STEM subjects later on and make breakthroughs in these fields.
In conclusion, although women’s choice of subjects should be respected if they are inclined to learn the art or language, their abilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics should not be ignored.

The world should have only one government rather than a national government for each country.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
It is suggested that the world should be ruled by a single government, and while this does seem to be a far-fetched idea, I think it would bring more benefits if it happened.
I should admit that there would be one main danger to having the only government to govern the whole world, and this rests on the idea that no one would guarantee that there would be a justice president. A clear example would be the USSR, which exploited CIS countries for their advantage, misused their natural resources, practiced forced labor and many other cruel activities. There would be no one to speak up or stand up for this because the world would be controlled by one government which would have all the military forces and thus the power.
Despite this, I can give several reasons to why the world should have one central government. First of all, there would be no war whatsoever. The reason why countries declare wars against each other is for the aim of occupying new lands or other natural resources, but there would be no need for such terrorizing act if the single government happily allocated these precious treasures between nations across the globe. Also, travelling would be effortless. Many people around the world are not given the chance of freely visiting other countries in order to study, work or to spend their holiday as there are plenty of requirements to meet, which is not possible in many cases. However, a passport and ticket would be the only requirements to travel worldwide if there were one government.
In short, the world would be peaceful and easy to travel if there were a single authority, and if this authority were justice, there would be only benefits that would remain.

Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn about current events. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
News is an integral part of our everyday life, and we access it through a range of ways, ranging from newspapers to the radio to television. Therefore, I do not think one of these sources is better than the other.
It is true that newspapers are a good way of getting news on a daily basis, and they are especially convenient for older people, most of who are unable to use the latest gadgets, such as phones and laptops. However, they can still enjoy reading news on newspapers which are published every day and report on all the details about the events which have happened quite recently.
Nevertheless, there are also other ways of getting news which can easily compete with newspapers. For example, the radio is helpful for news-readers who often use their own transport when they travel to university, work or back home. This is also true of others who use public transport, and they can turn to their mobile devices to hear about the latest news. In these cases, reading newspapers can be quite challenging and provide little exposure.
I can also find television another great source of up-to-date news by which people can enjoy high quality family time and still be told of fresh news happing around the world from the comfort of their homes. This way also allows people to get news directly from the moment it is happening because many news television channels go live, visit the area where the event is taking place and directly connect with news watchers.
It seems clear that reading or watching the latest events is now possible through several ways, thus, I do not agree with the statement that is only in favor of newspapers.

A REALLY TOUGH WRITING TASK 2 QUESTION:
In today’s world of advanced science and technology, many still greatly value artists such as musicians, painters and writers.
What can the arts tell us about life that science cannot?
👆👆👆
It is said that although science and technology have advanced significantly, this is still not stopping people from valuing artists and their works. I think this is simply because artists tell us more about life than scientists do.
I believe that artists are of significant importance due to the fact that they always remind us about a simple truth that we all need to connect with our being, our spirit, our soul and our significant others, which is the core motivation of many songs, movies, paintings and books. Unfortunately, our little devices do seem to be connecting us, but in actual fact, they are bringing us together in a virtual world, which is far away from the real world, thanks to science and technology.
The arts also tell us that life is about loving and sharing, thus, sacrificing. This is what many artistic works base their ideas upon; however, science and technology again recommend us to get eight hour quality sleep each day while others are suffering in other parts of the world. Elon Musk is a scientist, which I agree with, but he is driven by the desire to colonize to Mars to save humans, and he got this idea after he had read a book, which is the product of art.
Moreover, life does not know any limits, according to art. Many books, songs and paintings tell us that our life is beyond what we think, which is why many people go out and do extraordinary things, things that are believed to be impossible by scientists who often believe only in tangible facts. For example, scientists have come to a conclusion that it is impossible to travel to the other side of the Black Hole, but many works created by artists take us to the world which is far beyond that hole.
All in all, life is much more than what we understand if we turn to art rather than scientific discoveries and facts alone. Art tells us that we are limitless, but science and technology limit us.

Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Our today’s society would be totally different, perhaps collapsed, if a range of laws and punishments were not created and implemented because everyone would commit crimes without realizing the consequences of their evil actions. Even though we are now far from such society, some individuals still argue about the ways we use to punish people who have committed crimes. However, I think, rather than arguing whether we should apply fixed or non-fixed punishments, we should better take preventive measures in the first place.
It is true that fixed punishments for all types of crimes do work in some cases. This is important in order to prevent others from committing a crime by showing people being punished severely even for a simple act. In fact, giving a robber a several years sentence is likely to stop others who were going to commit the same crime. This might appear to be unfair or cruel, but it can have a big positive impact on the crime rates in the long-run.
On the other hand, some people suggest that it would be wise to understand why a person has been convicted of a crime. Had he consumed alcohol before he did such act, was he under severe stress, or did he really do himself or was there another reason? These questions should be given to know the real motivation or intention behind the crime and that a proper punishment should be implemented. This also shows that we are living in justice society.
Personally, I would take a totally different approach in this case. I think it will be better if we place a great deal of importance on prevention rather than discuss which sentence should be given. I believe that crime rates have been increasing since the time when the first punishment was introduced, so I am sure that we should look at this situation from a different angle. We need to offer better salaries, and provide affordable healthcare and education, because the majority of crimes take place owing to the lack of these.
In short, fixed and non-fixed punishments seem to work to some extent, but I think prevention should be seen as an answer when looking for the answer.

It is said that we should not pay for healthcare. However, I disagree with this statement to a greater extent.
For some people it makes sense to provide free-of-charge healthcare. They think that it will be of great financial help for people who live on a very low income and that cannot save enough money for their healthcare expenses each month. This can become even more problematic if they have large families with more people. Offering medical services for no charge can also be helpful for disabled individuals as these people are not lucky enough, like ordinary people, to have a proper job which can cap their medical expenses.
Despite the reasons mentioned above, I still believe free healthcare provides more drawbacks than the benefits. First of all, rich people will also enjoy this free offer even though they can easily pay for their expenses, and this is unfair because they earn plenty of money and often enjoy tax loopholes. Also, free healthcare can be a huge financial burden for governments because they will have to finance the salaries of doctors and nurses, medical equipment, and the food and drugs provided for patients. Governments can spend this very money for other more pressing issues instead. Finally, when it is free to receive medical services, patients may not be motivated to take a great care of their health the next time. In fact, it is the human nature that people always appreciate and value the items that they pay a lot for, and health is one of them.
In conclusion, although offering free medical care seems appealing to some degree, I feel that it does more damage than good.

Some people think to be successful at a sport one needs to be talented, while others support hardwork.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It has been argued that a successful sports career is built on either talent or hardwork. However, I believe they are equally important.
Surely talent is an important ingredient for a successful career in sport. This is because a young athlete or a soccer player, for example, is almost always one step ahead of others as they have been given a special talent for what sport they do, and that they naturally have all the important skills and abilities to demonstrate a spectacular game. As the nature is always on behalf of them, they are not required to show up in training early in the morning. A clear example is Messi who, according to his teammates, does not train more than any other player in his team, but he has been awarded with the world’s best player award for six years. This shows that one needs to be talented so as to be a successful sports person.
However, not much in life is fair, and this is true of sport. In fact, many young players or athletes are not talented, but this should never stop them at this point. The good news is that if they put into plenty of effort and hardwork, they are highly likely to fully develop and perfect the skills and abilities they need to compete and even outperform their talented competitors. Ronaldo, a phenomenal soccer player, was told that he was not created for soccer, but at the end he proved everyone wrong, and he has won the best player nomination for five years. Therefore, I would suggest that if a young sports person realizes that he or she has not been gifted, what all they need is to do nothing but train hard.
To conclude, if a young immature player or athlete is talented, it will be much easier for them to succeed at the sport they do. However, if they are not given this natural ability, hardwork is what all they need to bridge this gap.

How should we format our writing?
When the examiner reads your essay, it should always be neat and predictable in terms of your line spacing and paragraphing.
In modern writing, we always put a full line space between paragraphs. I've noticed some students just use indents (tabs) to set off there paragraphs, but this isn't really enough.
Also, generally speaking, I would recommend that your body paragraphs be of similar length. It is always concerning when I see super long body paragraphs followed by a paragraph of only a few sentences.
Additionally, make sure your handwriting is legible and consistent. If in doubt, the examiner might assume it's a mistake. I see a lot of students who mix capitals and lower case in their handwriting. Capitals are capitals - lower case are lower case - using the wrong one is a mistake that can seriously affect your score if it appears repeatedly.
Lastly, I recommend a few fully developed body paragraphs for your essays rather than four short ones. Generally speaking, essays with around 6 paragraphs are pretty bad. Use 4 or at the most 5 paragraphs (including intro and conclusion) for your entire essay (this is not a rule - just my advice).

Some people focus on news in their own country, while others think it is more important to be aware of international news.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
People have different tastes in news which means some of them like local news, while others are in favor of global news. I think both types of news offer certain benefits that make them equally important.
It is true that local news does matter for a number of reasons. First of all, it is important for local people to be told of what is happening around them, as it has a direct impact on them. For example, during the lockdown, we had to know about the covid-19 cases in our own country, so a lot of Uzbek people were plugged in through the local news providers and started to adhere to social distancing and stayed at home. Also, news of this kind allows people to be aware of the social problems that exist in their local area and this will likely encourage them to take necessary steps so as to tackle them. However, these problems will be left ignored if they are not shown by the local media.
On the other hand, global news means several benefits. For instance, reading such news helps people to know how well their country is doing. By this way they can compare their country with others in a range of domains, ranging from agriculture, healthcare, and education to science. Moreover, globally disseminated news promotes international aid, for example, when news readers in wealthy countries hear about the huge death tolls that covid-19 is taking on people in Africa, they can be motivated to donate a certain amount of money in the form of humanitarian aid. Lastly, some people who run news programmes on television or publish podcasts on the radio need to be aware of the events happening around the world as this is the core of their job.
In short, as both local and global news are important, it would not be wise to favor the one and overlook the other.

In many situations, people who break the law should be warned instead of punished.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is said that people who breach the law should receive a warning rather than a punishment. However, I think a person who does not obey the law, whether it is minor or major, should be punished.
Obviously, some people would say that a person who does not follow the law should receive a first time warning, which I think is a wrong idea. What we should consider in this case is the consequence of their action, even though it is a minor rule. For example, my country has recently passed a strict law on wearing masks and distancing socially, but before this Uzbeks had only been warned for their disobedience by the local authorities. As a result, this only facilitated the spread of the disease – Covid-19 – and thus claimed thousands of lives in my country. Also, when people are simply warned instead of punished after they have broken a minor law, this will only motivate them to break the major ones, be it running a red light or drug selling, risking the lives of many as a result.
Moreover, I think major law breakers by all means should be brought to the court and punished severely as their actions are highly likely to affect nations on a larger scale. A clear example is corruption, an evil act that is believed to hinder the development of any nation in a range of fields, particularly economy. In fact, Singapore’s economy started to skyrocket after it had announced that a person engaged in taking “undertable money” would be sentenced to death. In addition, punishing people who disobey major laws promises safety for the public as a whole, and this is the first priority of Finland, which has been reported as the happiest country across the world.
Clearly, regardless of their size, all laws can have a huge impact on others when broken, so individuals who do not adhere to them should receive a punishment and not any other alternative.

Let me give you 5 quick tips to help you score a 7 in writing.
Doing these things doesn't guarantee a 7, but they are some key points that hold people back.
1. Make your position clear.
A lot of people write essays and by the end of it, I'm not sure which side of the argument they are truly on. This is especially an issue for essays that require you to look at both sides of an issue.
2. Expand on your ideas.
A lot of people write their body paragraphs as lists. One idea, then a second idea, then a third idea. If you do this, you'll get a rubbish CC score. Always give an expansion sentence to any idea you present.
3. Edit for simple errors.
Don't expect to get 7 in grammar if your essay is full of article and plural mistakes. Also, don't expect 7 in LR if you have multiple spelling errors. If you don't edit your writing, these mistakes will definitely exist. I always reread everything I post because I almost always make a mistake the first time round.
4. Don't misread the question.
About 20% of essays I read from people in the 6 to 7 range actually misread the question. They answer something the question is not asking. Sometimes questions are not simply a matter of benefits vs drawbacks. They can be more specific than that, so make sure you don't default to pros vs cons essays if this isn't what is required.
5. Don't use fake research.
A popular website recommended this and now everybody started doing it. The idea is to persuade your reader. If you are using obviously false information, you aren't drawing from your own knowledge or experience. There are always better ways to support points than fake things.
Hope this helps.

The demand for cosmetic surgery is increasing dramatically.
Is such surgery positive or negative?
The saying “do not judge a book by its cover” has totally lost its value in today’s society because people are heavily judging others based on their beauty. As a result, an increasing number of them are undergoing surgery which aims to improve their appearance, which I think should be seen as positive.
First, by undergoing such surgery some people might be able to get their dream job. For example, many young people are eager to pursue their career path in modeling and acting where a great deal of importance is placed on beauty. If slightly changing their appearance means they are given the chance of getting their job, which they have been dreaming of, I think it is positive to lie down on the operating couch and achieve their dreams.
This will also help them fit in their society. Unfortunately, we are living in a world which has become so much concerned about the outward beauty of individuals rather than their inward beauty. In addition to this, many people are ignored by their friends and colleagues, simply because they are not good looking enough. If such surgery helps people who are not gifted in terms of beauty to fit in their society, I believe this is what they do need to accept.
Finally, surgery of this kind is found to be helpful in maintaining relationships. Studies have shown that many divorce cases took place due to the fact that the couples were not happy enough about their appearance. Also, men are often believed to be dissatisfied with their significant others’ beauty, as they are prone to compare them with those highly “filtered” models on social media. Therefore, in order to keep their relationships healthy and lost-lasting, I think women in particular should agree with plastic surgery.
In short, although some people who criticize plastic surgery disagree with me, I think such sacrifice is what helps people to pursue their dream career path, enjoy their social life and better their personal relationships.

I want to address a common issue that I see with agree/disagree opinion essays.
People often, especially recently, are misreading the question. Students often give answers that are relevant to the themes of the essay question, but they don't actually directly answer the question itself.
Let me give you some examples of what I mean. Here are some essay questions with an explanation of what you should be focusing on answering.
...
- University education should be free for all students. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In this one, you need to focus on university being 'free' or not. Your job is not to discuss the benefits of university. Your conclusion should be something like "I believe university education should (not) be free."
- Some people believe that nowadays we have too much choice. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The key words in this one are 'too much'. The argument is not 'do we have a lot of choice?' 'Too much' is always a bad thing, so you need to say if you think having lots of choice is bad. Your conclusion should finish with something like "I believe that there is (not) too much choice these days."
- Advertising that targets children should be banned from our televisions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In this one, you aren't discussing pros and cons of advertising in general. You are deciding if advertising to children specifically should be prohibited. Your conclusion should be something like "I believe that advertising aimed at children should (not) be prohibited."
- Some people say it is important to keep your home and your workplace tidy, with everything organised in the correct place.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In this one, the key word is 'important'. Your conclusion should include the word 'important' to make sure you answered the question. It might say something like "I believe keeping one's surroundings clean is (un)important."
- Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The key words of this one are 'equal numbers'. You are arguing for whether an exact 50/50 split should be in place for all university classes by gender. This is not about accepting 'more' women or equality in general, it's about getting this exact balance. Your conclusion should be something like "I believe that it is (not) a good idea to aim for a perfect balance between men and women in every class."
- The recent popularity of online shopping will result in the end of high street shops. To what extent do you agree or disagree.
This question is not about the benefits of online shopping. It is all about 'will result in the end'. We all know online shopping is getting more popular, so a discussion of this is irrelevant. Your conclusion should be something like "I believe retail shops will (continue to) no longer exist in the future."
...
I hope you are noticing how my conclusion would finish with a clear statement that answers the question. The body paragraphs should also reflect this.
Remember, always answer the focus of the question.

Some people say that art (painting, music, poetry) can be made by everyone, while other believe it can be made only by those with special talents.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is believed that a person who wants to be a great artist should be talented, but I disagree with this view and believe anyone can succeed at art, such as writing, singing or drawing, although they are not gifted.
It is understandable that some people are one step ahead of others on their way to becoming great artists, and this is simply because they have been gifted. They are likely to reach the pinnacle of their success in the art world without putting a great deal of time and effort into learning, practicing and honing their skills. After all, not much in life is fair.
However, this idea of being talented is important should not limit others who want to become a great painter, music producer or writer. One secret recipe for them is to be hardworking. One famous study done by Malcom Gladwell has confirmed this that anyone can master anything of their choice, say it dancing, singing and others, if they are willing to spend “10 thousand hours”. Therefore, it would be unwise for wannabes to give up if they have no sign of talent.
Also, persistency can often outperform talent. In fact, many singers, painters and writers have made it to the top, but they were not among prodigies. A clear example is Beethoven who were visually disabled, but it did not deter him from being a greatest-of-all-time musician thanks to his persistency. So if you are not talented, but have developed persistency within yourself, all you need is to keep trying.
Finally, if a person craving for being an eminent writer, for example, is not passionate and it is only financial gains that he or she has planned, then it is highly likely that they will end up remaining unknown. Life has seen many artists who just wasted their talent simply because they were driven by exorbitant pays rather than love and passion. In fact, great artists would agree to work if they were not paid, and this is what allows them to leave their name in history.
I can understand that talent can allow its owner to be a great writer or music producer faster than others, but it does not mean that those without such gift are not destined for success in art.

Studying abroad is better than studying in hometown.
Do you agree or disagree?
Pursuing a degree in overseas universities is more beneficial for young people than enrolling at their local universities, an idea which is completely appealing to me.
It is first important to consider that studying in a foreign country provides international students with job opportunities, which often cannot be found in their own country. After they have finished their university, most students are offered little career opportunities in their home country, so in this case, attending top universities in developed parts of the world secures not only their study, but also what they do once they have graduated. This is the reason why many students in my country are pursuing their degree in countries, such as the UK, USA and Canada where they can make sure that both their academic and professional lives are secured.
Also, students who choose to earn their degree abroad will become incredibly cultural-wise. Unfortunately, developing such quality in their own country would not be possible, as they have grown up only being attached to their local culture, but when they move to a new country to study, they will be living as well as studying with international students who will be open to exchange their culture with one another. For example, when I was studying in Malaysia, I would be invited to different holidays, such as Halloween, the Chinese New Year, Holi, an Indian festival, and many more. I have had the chance of learning about a range of cultures. Such events will help students, like me, thrive in their workplace at “multinational” companies as they are culturally well-equipped.
Overall, studying overseas offers students the chances that cannot be found in their home countries, so it would not be wise to keep them in their hometown if we really wish them a brighter future.

Some people say that individuals who make a lot of money are the most successful. Others think that those who contribute to society like scientists and teachers are more successful.
Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
People often argue about who is more successful: rich people or people in the scientific and education world. However, I think they all are equally successful since they only aim to help others.
On the one hand, it is important to consider wealthy individuals as successful, and there are two reasons for this. First of all, once they have amassed some wealth, they start to make their personal dreams come true, such as purchasing their dream car, house and traveling around the world with their family. This is what materialistic societies always consider success. However, this journey of the well-off does not just end there, but instead, they will begin to be involved in philanthropic activities, tackling a range of social problems, for example, investing in better education, healthcare, climate change and space exploration. All of these are aimed to enhance people’s lives, which really is called success.
Having the same goal in mind as the rich mentioned above, scientists and teachers also do aim to improve people’s lives, but in different ways. For example, people in the scientific world spend their day and night conducing hundreds of studies in laboratories with the aim of inventing new medicines and vaccines for individuals who have been suffering from incurable diseases. Therefore, saving millions of lives I think is nothing but a real success. On the other hand, although they are paid little money, teachers put great deal of time and effort into educating and nurturing young people, thus, contributing to knowledge-based communities. These young minds are likely to become billionaires and great scientists in the future, and, hence, I think creating successful people is also success.
In short, wealthy individuals, scientists and teachers can be successful to the same degree; however, the way they achieve their success is different from one another.

Some modern artists receive huge sums of money for the things they create, while others struggle to survive. Governments should take steps to resolve this unfair situation.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Artists, like many creative people, have to work hard to survive on the income they receive from selling their products. Some artists become popular and can charge a lot of money for their work, while many others never achieve success. I think there are good reasons why this happens, and there is nothing that governments can or should do about it.
Generally, people are willing to pay for something that they admire or would like to own. In the case of art, this may be because they feel something is unique, or is exceptionally beautiful or skillful. Whatever the reason, I would argue that it would be quite unfair for any government to prevent the artist from asking a high price for it. Surely the public has to decide what something is worth, even if it means that less admired artists find it hard to earn a living?
In many respects, artists are like business people. Those who can sell a lot of their work develop a reputation and raise their prices over time. This may seem unfair to others who remain unknown, but if they choose to continue with a career in art, it seems they must accept the situation. In most cases, popular artists have spent years developing their skills, studying their subject and exhibiting their work. Why should a government deny them the earnings they have worked so hard to achieve?
Ultimately, people have to be free to spend their money as they wish. If this means that some artists have to make the difficult choice of finding another way to earn a living, no one can alter that fact. After all, not much in life is fair!

Visiting museums has always been entertaining for people of any age. However, sometimes we can enjoy this activity for free and sometimes not. Although some people believe they should be completely free, I feel that museums that charge the people who visit them have more advantages over the ones that are completely free.
One single drawback to charging the visitors is that it can have a direct impact on education. This is simply because school children often go to museums to have hands-on experience and knowledge in the real world. This is very important for students who want to learn more about history or art, but charging them can be a financial burden for schools as they fund their trips.
However, there are more advantages to museums requiring entry fees. First, like many businesses, museums have their own expenses that need to be covered. This can be challenging enough if museums do not generate any revenue. Second, museums might lose their value if they are free to access. That is, it is human nature that we have been always valuing the objects that we buy, but we do not place greater importance on the ones that we do not pay for. Therefore, if museums want to increase in value, then making them free can only be counter-productive. Lastly, charging the visitors and making a profit can allow museums to be able to afford new exhibits and displays whereby they will be able to attract bigger audiences and so continuously prosper.
Overall, it is true that there is one drawback to free-to-access museums, but there can still be more advantages for making them paid. If schools find it hard to fund the museum trips, I think governments can step in and help them in this case.

Writing Task 2
Some people say that in the modern world it is very difficult for people to have a healthy lifestyle. Others, however, say that it is easy to be healthy and fit if they want to be.
Discuss both these views and give your opinion.
One of the big issues in some parts of the world today is that of unhealthy lifestyles and the effects that unhealthy lifestyles have on people and society. This is not just a personal issue, it is a social and medical one.
For a lot of people, it is easy to have an unhealthy lifestyle. They spend most of their time sitting at desks at work. In fact, this has become more and more true of people over time, because jobs that involved physical movement have been replaced by jobs involving computers.
Another reason is that they use their cars for every journey instead of walking sometimes. So they get very little exercise, and this is very bad for them. And many people, in particular young people, spend a lot of their free time sitting down and looking at screens. They watch movies or play computer games all the time, instead of going out and doing sport and taking exercise. Food is another issue. Nowadays, many people eat junk food all the time and this is very bad for you.
People are very aware of this issue and they want to stay fit and healthy in most places, it is not difficult to do this. There are gyms and fitness centers where people can go, and lots of people do this. In addition, there is a lot of information about what to eat and it is not difficult or expensive to eat healthy food. The whole subject gets a lot of publicity in the media. As a result of all this, many people find it easy to stay fit and healthy.
In conclusion, it is very easy for a lot of people to have unhealthy lifestyles and this can cause medical problems because they can eventually require some kinds of medical treatment, which puts more pressure on the medical profession. On the other hand, it is not at all difficult for people to avoid these problems by taking regular exercise and eating healthy food.
This essay certainly scores a 9 according to Cambridge. However, I fixed some parts of it. Enjoy it!

The use of electronic media has a negative effect on personal relationships between people.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Obviously, our computers, mobile phones and iPads have already become an important part of our lives. However, there are still some people who think these devices are already damaging our relationships with family members, friends and colleagues. I think they are both good and bad, but what is more important here is the way we use them.
It is true that electronic devices might be damaging people’s personal relationships. They, for example, are no longer engaging themselves in face to face conversations when they meet up at a café or restaurant. Instead of enjoying and talking to each other, they are busy taking the picture of their dinner and posting it on Instagram or Facebook. As a result, they are weakening their relationships rather than deepening and taking them to the next level.
However, there are also benefits to using computers and phones for individuals when strengthening their personal relationships. They can easily stay in touch with their friends or family members who have been living away from them. Simply put, there are no any geographical limitations. This opportunity also allows them to make plenty of international friends online who they might meet in person and even maintain deeper friendships later on.
Personally, I think the answer for the question is that our computers and smartphones can do us good if we use them sensibly, or they can work to our detriment if we use them in a way that is not beneficial at all. For instance, people can use them to make lots of online friends and enjoy widening their friendship circle or use them to play video games instead of meeting their friends.
In conclusion, it is people and the way they are using their electronic devices that are benefitting and worsening their lives. At the end of the day, these gadgets are created by humans and not other way around.

Some people say that the clothes people wear are the most important indications of what they are like. Others, however, say that people should not be judged by the clothes they wear.
Discuss both of these views and give your opinion.
Clothes are an important part of people, and judging them based on what they wear might be right. However, some people say this can be misleading. When it comes to me, I support both of these people for a few reasons.
I think people who argue in favor of judging others based on their clothes are right. For example, medical professionals always try to look fresh and clean, so saying they are as same in real life as how they look is correct. Another example is teachers and business people who always wear formal clothes and that we can say their lifestyles truly reflect their look.
Despite these, there are individuals who think judging people by their look alone is not enough, and I can support them too. They provide other personal indicators that are hard enough to ignore. One of them is that good behaviour is never fully transparent. This means we are highly likely to fail in seeing a great person behind cheap clothes no matter how hard we try.
We are also bound to fail when judging people who place greater importance on time. For example, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, is the third richest man on the planet, but he always wears the same simple t-shirt and jeans in order to prevent himself from spending hours going from shop to shop looking for clothes. So, thinking he is an average person because this is the way he looks can be a huge failure.
In conclusion, because clothes tell a lot about a person most of the time, it does not mean we always succeed in judging others this way. At the end of the day, not judging the book by its cover is still at work.

Some people believe that private schools are better public schools.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
One of the priorities of parents is to give their children the best schooling possible, and in this case, they have two options: private schools or publics schools. Although some people value more the former, I feel these schools are equally important.
As for state schools, there are two key advantages. One is that they are completely free which means even though they have plenty of cost to operate, this is fully covered by the government. So, parents do not have to worry about how to finance their children’s school expenses. Another advantage of public schools is they can bridge the educational gap. This means that although poor and middle income families often cannot afford to send their children to elite schools, they can still give them quality education by the help of schools that are supported by the government.
Private schools, on the other hand, offer equal opportunities as public schools, I believe. First, they are key to high-quality education. This is because they provide small-sized classes, highly skilled teachers, a range of late model technology and teaching materials. These will surely help the children to produce excellent academic results. Another benefit that most people find surprising is these schools offer travel packages for their students, which also makes the learning process more fun. An example is children who study in these places will not only travel locally, but they will also have the chance of seeing other parts of the world, such as Rome, Egypt or France.
It is clear that both of these schools come with plus sides that make each of them worth attending. I think parents who earn enough income can give their children private education, but it will not disappoint poor and middle class families thanks to public schools.

As Earth runs out of natural resources, we have started to look to space for solutions. However, some people argue that this is the wrong thing to do, and instead we should look for alternative solutions on Earth.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with them?
What alternatives might there be to exploiting space for natural resources?
For many years, scientists have been talking about the continous loss of natural resources on earth and so encouraging some individuals and organisations to look for the solution not here but in space. As many others, I think this is the wrong approach.
There are several convincing reasons why this approach might not work the way a few people believe. For a start, there has been given no acute information about whether natural resources are available in space. Even if they were, I think it would be unrealistic or relatively cheap to send ships there to bring the resources back to earth. Also, most business people like Elon Musk and Richard Branson have been sending their space probes with the sole aim of making profits which means even if there are resources in space, they will only be bringing them to earth for making profits. So instead of setting our sights on space, we should be better working on solving problems on earth and make it a better place for people to live.
This is possible in many ways. One of them is investing heavily in renewable energy, such as solar power, wave energy and electric cars. Also, some of the methods that farmers have been using for many years should be replaced by new and efficient approaches that are designed to get the most while using less energy. People can also bring a lot to the table. By walking or biking rather than driving to shorter distances, they can save plenty of natural resources like fuel. Businesses, on the other hand, play a key part in addressing this problem. This is especially true of car manufactures that can save plenty of resources by fully switching from producing ordinary cars to the ones that only run on electricity.
In conclusion, it is clear that although space seems like an exciting solution for saving our natural resources, no one can fully guarantee that it is feasible. What it takes to solve this issue is to invest in what we already have.

Some people think a sport is the only solution to improve public health. However, others disagree and think there are other solutions as well.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It would not be wise to ignore sport when it comes to improving people’s general health, but heavily relying on it in this case would be a wrong approach. This is because, as others and I think, there are a range of options available for people who want to better their health conditions and these include a balanced diet, getting quality sleep and living in a clean environment.
Sport is arguably one of the most important factors that directly affect people’s general health. Therefore, it has always been important to encourage public to take up a sport in order to stay healthy, and many studies have already found a direct link between sport and better health. This also explains why schools always include sports subjects in their timetable and organize various sports competitions. On the other hand, some companies, such as Google, have already started offering their employees free fitness programs.
Despite this, others might argue there are other factors that should be taken into consideration in order to help public to improve their health, and I take the same view. Going on a diet is one of them. People should take a certain amount of calories and vitamins on their daily basis, and if they are reluctant to do so, being in gym 24/7 can have no positive impact on their health. The eight-glass-water rule is also certainly true in this case. Another way would be to teach people to learn to get enough quality sleep. This is particularly true of today when we are addicted to our devices and so forget to go to bed earlier. Neither sport nor diet helps us if we are not getting more than seven hours of sleep each night. Finally, living in a polluted environment might take a huge toll on public health, so if we want to improve it, we should put emphasis on the environment we live and ensure that it is clean.
In conclusion, it seems like sport is only one of a number of ways of improving people’s health, and there are a wide variety of ways that we should consider instead. Sport cannot help to a greater extent unless we follow a proper diet, sleep enough and live in a clean environment.

It is generally thought that different people experience happiness at different stages of their lives, for example, when they are teenagers or when they are adults. However, I think that happiness is linked to different factors, not only age.
For example, some teenagers might not enjoy happiness if they have been raised by a poor family. In this case, all they do experience is being exposed to the lack of money, and because of this, they do not have access to quality food, education, and clothes like their peers. They are also exposed to bully at school owing to their low social status.
On the other hand, there are some teenagers who are bound to enjoy a much higher level of happiness due to the fact that they belong to rich families. They are busy with planning their summer camps, attending elite schools, buying the latest designer clothes, and eating out in a restaurant. Some of them also own their cars.
Similarly, being adults does not always guarantee happiness. I have seen many adults whose miserable childhood experience directly affected their future. They did not succeed academically and that they are not succeeding professionally today. As they do not have a lucrative job, they and their families have no access to good healthcare, housing and travel.
However, there are adults that had a strong foundation in their childhood and that they are now working in multinational companies, or have already started their own business. This means they are earning enough, enjoying doing their favourite job, traveling with their family and giving their children the best schooling. These are the things that people who want to be happy often strive to have.
In conclusion, it seems clear that how satisfied people are with their lives can occur in different times of their lives. After all, their childhood experience often has a profound impact on their happiness when they have reached adulthood.
