Task No 3. [the topic: Gender problems in Comparative Linguistics]

Give the results of genderological analysis of any chosen notion [you may use the following notions as love, friendship, hospitality, wish, desire and so on]

Genderological analysis of the notion ‘truth’

‘Gender’ is considered the main object of genderology. It includes national description of cultures, the role of males and females in society and their relationship and behavior. The term ‘gender’ is considered as one of the problematic concept in this direction of linguistics. The main attention of linguists was paid to distinguish the term of ‘gender’ and ‘sex’.

Genderological analysis of a language can serve in understanding not only its anthropocentric paradigm but also its male and female peculiarities. The opinion of V.A.Maslova can be example for this understanding: “human being can receive majority of data through linguistic frequency, therefore human lives in his own world created by himself with intellectual, spiritual and social need concepts than the world of things”. [Maslova, 2001,24] Moreover, through gender humanity can understand and evaluate the existence as individual and collective consciousness, they can investigate flamboyant relationships of human being based on relations between male and female. Thus, gender as a meaningful source identifies all sociocultural sides of human’s life.

In this paper, it is intended to analyze the notion ‘truth’. The English word true is from Old English (West Saxon) (ge)tríewe, tréowe, cognate to Old Saxon (gi)trûui, Old High German (ga)triuwu (Modern German treu "faithful"), Old Norse tryggr, all from a Proto-Germanic *trewwj- "having good faith", perhaps ultimately from PIE *dru- "tree", on the notion of "steadfast as an oak" (e.g., Sanskrit "taru" tree). Old Norse trú, "faith, word of honour; religious faith, belief" (archaic English troth "loyalty, honesty, good faith", compare Ásatrú).

In Brittanica, truth is defined as : “Truth, the property of language, the property of sentences, assertions, beliefs, thoughts, or propositions that are said, in ordinary discourse, to agree with the fact or to state what is the case”.

There are different folk proverbs, sayings, quotes, aphorisms and idioms about the concept ‘truth’. Gender related proverbs are “Wine is in, truth is out” (Mastlik-rostlik) is mostly about men, as ,mostly, men receive alcohol, and this proverb is widespread both in English and Uzbek languages.

Truth is the daughter of God. (Haqiqat oltindan qimmat) here truth is assimilated as the daughter of God.

One of the poets of English literature John Keats says that,

Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all.

Ye know on Earth, and all ye need to know.

Here, the poet speaks about the appearance of women (Beauty is truth), and the honesty of their soul (truth beauty).

To sum up, the notion truth is widely used by both genders: masculine and femininine equally. It is used in both written and spoken language commonly.
