My scientific views on methodology
My experiences throughout methodology envolved my teaching philosophy. By writing this essay, I try to explain what we covered in class, importantly, this essay is about me and what I learned. Over the course of a seminar, we learned and discussed what is CBI, its features and functions. Content-Based Instruction is an approach to language teaching that focuses not on the language itself, but rather on what is being taught through the language; that is, the language becomes the medium through which something new is learned. Besides that I learned assessment, learner characteristics, classroom research and etc. All of these topics very essential and benefit in teaching process.
Besides that we made a Portfolio which include lesson plans and 2 reflectin essays. We worked with group and it was enjoyable for me. In my point of view collaborative work improves the quantity and quality of teaching and promote the social environment. My perception of a teacher’s role from a more philosophical perspective, that educational philosophy is your beliefs about why, what and how you teach, whom you teach, and about the nature of learning. ... Sources for your educational philosophy are your life experiences, your values, the environment in which you live, interactions with others and awareness of philosophical approaches.
In the second half of the semester, I learned a few methods and approaches which is important in teaching. At the same time, I choose and design tasks that promote inquiry, critical thinking and problem solving. When you examine a philosophy different from your own, it helps you to "wrestle" with your own thinking. Sometimes this means you may change your mind. Other times, it may strengthen your viewpoint; or, you may be eclectic, selecting what seems best from different philosophies.
This course connected with philosophy also. Educational philosophy and teaching styles are two aspects of adult learning that influence the teaching-learning transaction in colleges and universities. The educational philosophy can inform the educator with strategies and methods for implementing adult learning principles. Floyd (2010) described the importance of educators knowing their educational philosophy because selfexamination and critical inspection of practices will create a consciousness of some unconscious beliefs that affect teaching practice. An educational philosophy is crucial in the classroom because it serves as the foundation for an educator's teaching style. West (2008) states that the educational philosophy provides an organizing vision for educator's efforts; gives a sense of stability and direction; reduces the feelings of uncertainty; provides a sense of collective professional identity that leads to professional strength among educators
Conducted in collaboration with a foreign teacher, the lessons was intereting, meaningful and unusual. This course has inspired us to think more, to be more creative. As a future teacher, I have discovered new techniques for myself and intend to apply them throught the course. I introduced new methods and techniques from the book 'Celce murcia' that Ione of them is have not heard before. This book is of great importance in mastering this science well. Through the explanations of our teacher, the seminar lessons became more interesting and meaningful. I drew the necessary conclusions for myself and gained experience.
In sum up I want to say that both seminar and lecture teachers helped me to realize the aim and functions of this course. During the seminar we dicussed different topics which helps to develop our creativity. Generally, I gained a lot of information about the techniques and will continue to use them in the future.
