Correlation of rebellion and art
Summary
Reasoning of Albert Camus on the correlation of rebellion and art are referred to the European thoughts of 20th century, which were directed “against beauty and beautiful”, or in other words against moderation. This circumstance shows itself in the form of nihilism, which had covered almost all forms of art. Philosophy of existentialism in general and Albert Camus in particular were oriented on the search of the ways of overcoming of this disease.
In mentioned context the logic of philosophy is as follow: rebellion with initial complication and purity exposes in the art, in its turn art displays and highlights the essence of rebellion. Proceeding from this fact it is become necessary to answer to the following questions: is the modern art able or not, like rebellion, to return true creative abilities and to transform life without murder and crime.
Based on the thought, that human being is not able to compare with history (in opposite case his existence is unreasonable), aspiration for search of pride, freedom and justice will never die in the human. Philosopher-existentialist supposes that human’s rebellion will draw out those parts of existence, which is called the beauty. Art, creation, along with other virtues, which always were, are and will be the sources of rebellion, will become again the condition and basis for formation of right morality. In such world of spirituality no one will able to provide the triumph of injustice, which in itself is opposite to human’s nature.
“While protecting the beauty, we are preparing the day of renaissance, when civilization will place in the centre of its reflection not formal principles and degenerated values, but vital virtues, which are the basis of vital unity of the human and the world” [1,3], this is the final word of Albert Camus.
“Philosopher of absurdity” is sure that if human’s existence is meaningful, and cognition is rational, rebellious human in the process of creation, in particular, in the art and by means of art, must find the shelter of high values and, according to his honor and pride must struggle for their strengthening. Of course, only one separate art is not able to bring renaissance, but in its turn renaissance is impossible and futile without strengthening of phenomena of art, creation, freedom, justice, rebellion and moderation.
