Introduction

Sound recording is the process of saving vibrations in the range of 20-20,000 Hz (music, speech or other sounds) on any medium (phonograph records, magnetic tape, CD, etc.) using special devices (microphone, mixing remote control, tape recorder, etc.). The sound recording saved as a result of this process on any medium is called a phonogram.
Necessary equipment: a device for converting sound vibrations into electrical vibrations (microphone) or a tone generator (eg sound synthesizer, sampler). A device for converting electrical vibrations into a sequence of numbers (in digital recording), a storage device (tape recorder, computer hard drive or other device for saving received information to a medium).
The oldest known sound recording was made on April 9, 1860 by Parisian inventor Édouard-Leon Scott de Martinville using a device called a "phonoautograph".
At present, the analog sound recording, which has been familiar and still satisfies us in terms of its quality indicators, is gradually being replaced by digital. This process is typical for both professional and household appliances. Digital recording has undeniable advantages over analog recording.
It can be produced on various magnetic and optical media. Of particular interest is magnetic recording on a computer hard drive. At the same time, special, autonomous systems (stand-alone systems) and systems that work in conjunction with standard computers are distinguished.
Due to the widespread use of personal computers, the latter option is economically preferable. It allows you to use, instead of extremely expensive professional systems with a specific purpose, much cheaper systems with widespread and now often already available in studios IBM, Macintosh or Atari personal computers.
