There was a guest speaker from the City talking about Emergency Preparation. Robbie Powers joined us from the City of Tallahassee. He has 25 years experience in emergency management, 7 of those with the City. Robbie was also a former resident of the neighborhood many years ago. Packets were given to all attendees detailing the City services. The City owns the services such as electric and water. The County does not. Several items to note from his talk:
Leave the electricity on during a storm; fuses will protect the lines
Tallahassee Water is the best in the nation
City posts information as storms progress locally
Download the app Digitally for City access
Check into Flood insurance!
Be sure to get a NOAA weather radio
Energy audits are available through the City
There is a 47% chance of a hurricane coming into the Gulf this season!
The peak of hurricane season is September 10th
Neighborhoods may prepare by getting to know neighbors and their needs (elderly and those with small children); make an inventory of supplies available (chainsaws/generators)
Pet owners – take copies of vet information/shot info with you – DO NOT LEAVE PETS!
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 Other
