CHAPTER 3. PROSPECTIVE WAYS TO INCREASE THE IMPORTANCE OF EVENT TOURISM IN UZBEKISTAN.
3.1. Analyses and findings of event tourism using research methods.
In this section, the research method was explained including primary and
secondary data collection. Primary data is data that is obtained from first-hand
sources by a researcher. Secondary data is the data that has already been compiled and made freely accessible for researchers to use for their own analysis by primary sources. Except primary data research methods done from mixed methods which is an investigative technique that incorporates or associates both qualitative and quantitative types (Aramo-Immonen, 2013). It includes scholarly literature such as textbooks, academic journals and as well as other types of existing materials. Then, there will be a summary of data collection and analysis.
The Review of literature: one of the methods used was a literature review. The literature review is designed to give the reader an overview of the sources being researched while preparing a particular topic and to show the reader how the research fits into a broader field of study. It includes secondary research such as academic articles, journals, reports, statistical databases etc.
Thus, the literature review was researched and collected after extensive research through sources written by other authors and online websites which facilitated the enrichment of the theoretical structure of the dissertation work.
Questionnaire design: in this study, an online survey was conducted as a quantitative method. A questionnaire is a research technique consisting of a set of questions for the purpose of collecting respondent data. Survey provides a relatively inexpensive, fast, and efficient way to obtain large amounts of information from a wide range of people, and the author used an online survey due to the distance between regions of Uzbekistan.
The author used both open and closed questions to collect information in the questionnaire, which made the research more useful and successful in terms of obtaining both quantitative and qualitative data via Google Forms. The survey link was shared on social media and answers began to be collected. In general, the questionnaire contained 24 questions related to the topic. The survey was conducted among 50 tourists – 35 international travellers and 15 persons local tourists. There were also different types of questions such as multiple choice and multiple-choice grid, checkboxes and linear types of questions. Firstly, the questions included demographic questions such as the age, occupation, and nationality of the travellers. The views of the tourists who took part in tourism events on the number of visits to the host country and previous events were clarified. In addition, the views on the development of tourism in the capital of Uzbekistan, as well as event tourism were studied.
Interview design: another research technique that was done used in this research paper was to conduct online interviews with experts. Conducting an expert interview helped to find more accurate information about a particular field of study. By identifying the experts, the author prepares himself and the interviewer, then, follows a number of guidelines to make the interview more effective and achieves greater results. One of the best methods for quality research design is an expert interview. Interviews provide in-depth information about the perceptions and perspectives of participants on a specific topic. This includes asking open-ended questions to interview respondents and gather information.
The researcher communicated with experts via phone calls, e-mail, social media. Due to the time constraints of the experts, the online interview was conducted via phone calls and e-mail. The number of experts for the interview was three. The experts who took part in the interview were officials of the Uzbekistan Tourism Board and other major events held in Uzbekistan. The interviewees are specialists in the Tourism Industry having very rich experience in scientific research, finance, and law departments and also one of them is cofounder of a tourism company.
These interviews discussed the role and impact of events in the field of tourism in Uzbekistan, as well as the attracting tourists to the host country, current situation of events, how they balance that taught pandemic period and specific questions about the three major tourism events in accordance with the part given in the case study.
