Activity 2

Writing (13 minutes)

Objectives:

• 
  to develop pupils’ writing skills;
  
• 
  to reinforce the use of ordinal numbers.
  

Step – 1

Ask the pupils to look at the picture in Activity 4a of Lesson 1. Write on the board the following word combinations:

the first floor,

the second floor

, the third floor.

Ask the pupils to guess what the word combinations mean. If they have any difficulties, help them translate into their mother tongue.

Step – 2

Then draw the pupils’ attention to the location of the school rooms. Help them with the first example:

The library is on the second floor.

The classroom is on the first floor

.The canteen is on the third floor

. Then go on having them say the location of the other three rooms in the school. After that ask the pupils to complete the sentences in activity 1b by writing.
