English Resources for All Levels
This is a short list of resources which may be of interest to those studying
English. All of these resources require a reliable internet connection, but many of
them allow you to download content so you can watch or listen off-line.

Voice of America
– This website offers news stories in English and a variety of
other languages; the stories in English are specifically designed for non-native
speakers of English.

VOA Learning English
– This section of the Voice of America site has a wide
variety of resources for those studying English at all levels, from beginner to
advanced.
•
American English
– This website offers a wide variety of resources for students
as well as teachers of English.
•
NPR
– National Public Radio is the national broadcast service of the United
States. NPR’s website has a number of excellent resources such as stories to
which you can listen as well as read.

BBC Learning English
– Resources for studying British English provided by the
BBC.
•
British Council
– Resources for studying British English according to standards
set by the British Government
•
Newsela
– A website good for sourcing news stories in English. The stories can
be modified to be easier or more difficult depending on the level of difficulty
sought by the student or teacher.

Breaking News English
– Another news website with content designed for EFL
students and teachers.
•
News in Levels
– Similar to Newsela and Breaking News English, this website
provides news stories to EFL learners at different levels of competency, from
beginner to advanced.

YouTube
– YouTube has a wide variety of video resources for studying English,
as well as a large library of videos in English that are freely available. Many of
these videos can easily be downloaded by using a YouTube downloader such as
YouTube Mate
.
• TED Talks – These are lectures in English that usually focus on a specific
subject. They are available on

as well as the

• Khan Academy – A great resources for studying special topics such as math and
science in English. Available through the
Khan Academy
website as well as

Crash Course
– A similar resource to Khan Academy; available through YouTube
with series on a variety of topics available.

Wendover Productions
– A series of videos on YouTube exploring a wide variety
of topics.
•
Frontline
– Good for advanced learners, this program provides investigative
documentaries that explain a wide array of current-events and news topics
ranging from American politics to global events. Also available on

– Good for advanced learners, this PBS program covers a variety of
science topics. Also available on

Internet Archive
: The Internet Archive has a wide variety of books available for
download as PDFs.
