Monkeys are like people in many ways. In fact, some of them even go to college. A monkey college in Boston, Massachusetts, teaches some monkeys to become helpers for disabled people. They chose capuchin monkeys to be their “students” for a few reasons. Firstly, they are very smart. Secondly, they have very short tails. So, unlike other monkeys, they use their hands just like people do. Thirdly, these monkeys can live up to 40 years and get along well with humans. The monkeys at the college begin their training when they are only a few months old. They start to learn simple things such as bringing food or picking things up. Training monkeys is usually interesting but difficult. They can do more complicated things after several years of training. Most owners say their monkeys are not just helpers but also good triends.
