The objectives of the lesson:
Educational:
- to learn about geography,weather conditions,culture and people’s mentality of different countries;
Developing:
- to enable pupils to talk about different contienents and countries;
- to improve speaking skills;
Socio-cultural:
- to raise awereness of geography,weather conditions,culture and people’s mentality of different countries
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the lesson,pupils will be able to talk about various features ranging from geography,weather conditions to culture and people’s mentality of different countries.
Methods of the lesson: direct interactive group work, pair work (individual, teacher-pupil, pupil-teacher, whole class)

The procedure of the lesson
Organizing period: 5 minutes
Checking home assignments of the previous lesson: 5 minutes.
Activity 1: Work in pairs.Answer the questions.5 minutes
Objective; to inctroduce the unit topic;
The pupils ask each other and discuss the following questions;
1.Which is the world’s largest continent and which is the smallest?
2.Which is the contient with the largest population?
3.Which is the continent with the largest number of countries?
Activity 2.Listen and complete the text;8 minutes
Objective: to acquaint pupils with the territorial division of Uzbekistan.
The pupils look at the text and predict the information missing in the text.
The pupils listen to the DVD and complete the text.
DVD script;
Uzbekistan is divided into 12 regions(viloyat),one autonomous republic of Karakalpakstan and one independent city (Tahkent).The regions are divided into 160 districts(tuman).
Activity 3;Work in pairs.Ask and answer.8 minutes.
Objective;to develop speaking skills;
To consolidate the Present Passive;
The pupils look at the map and in pairs ask and answer the questions about the location of the regions of Uzbekistan;
e.g A;Where is Tashkent located?
B;It’s located in the north-east of Uzbekistan,near the Chimgan Mountains.
Activity 4: Work in groups of 4/5.Where is Uzbekistan?Think of all the countries or continents in the world that you know.Write them.15 minutes.
Objectives: - to introduce the topic;
To create a friendly athmosphere;
The pupils look at the map and discuss h question.
Ask What other countries do you know?Find them on the map and write their names.
Activity 5; Work in pairs.Ask and answer.8 minutes.
Objective;to develop speaking skills;
To practice the Present Passive;
In this post-reading activity,the pupils ask and answer the following questions in pairs.Help them with the use of the Present Passive.
1.Is Alaska the 50th state of the USA?
2.Where is Alaska located?
3.Where is Hawaii located?
4.Where is Scotland located?
5.What oceans and seas are the British Isles washed by?
6.Why is geographical positions of Great Britain good?
Homework;Explain to the pupils that they must work with the map and label the continents and oceans.
