28. Assesment is ……
*a) The measurement of the ability of a person or the quality or success of a teaching course, etc. Assessment may be by test, interview, questionnaire, observation and so on. b) A task which replicates or resembles a real-life task, e.g. scanning an article for particular information; this may be contrasted with a task which is specifically designed for, and only relevant in, the classroom. c) Texts which are taken from newspapers, magazines, etc., and tapes of natural speech taken from ordinary radio or television programmes, etc. When a teacher prepares texts or tapes for use in the classroom, he/she often has to use simplified texts as opposed to authentic texts. d) The degree to which language teaching materials have the qualities of natural speech or writing.
