What’s New in Hart County ESOL?

• Last spring, a new plan for the Hart County ESOL Program was approved by the Georgia Department of Education. Therefore, the ESOL teachers will be using one of the following models to serve the ELs
• Collaboration with teachers
• Push in
• It is important to remember that EL’s should be served all day, not just when an ESOL teacher is present. This means that general education teachers will need to provide the support and accommodations that English Learners need.

• Home Language Survey- all students registered in public schools must complete one (in permanent record)
• W-APT – Initial evaluation for entrance to ESOL program. ACCESS for ELs (Large-Scale annual ELP assessment)
• ESOL SIP-Student Instructional Plan – Classroom Accommodations
• TPC- Testing Participation Committee – lists testing accommodations
