The entropy of adsorption describes the state of motion of adsorbate molecules in the 
adsorbent. The entropy curve of the benzene system to the adsorbent obtained from local coal 
tailings had a wavy shape in accordance with the saturation values of the adsorbent (Fig. 3).At 
values up to 2 mol / g, known from the entropy graph, benzene is strongly adsorbed, i.e. below 
the line of the mean integral entropy. After 4.3 mol / g, the value of the entropy of benzene in the 
standard state is higher. Up to 4.3 mol / g indicates that the entropy of adsorption is strongly 
localized in the pores of the adsorbent. At the initial stages of saturation, benzene molecules are 
strongly adsorbed in the micropores of coal, i.e., benzene molecules are in an unexcited state, 
while in the process of adsorption up to -68.7 J / mol * K, the benzene solid is at the entropy 
value. In it, benzene slowly transforms into the entropy of the liquid state. The average integral 
entropy of benzene adsorption on coal, obtained in the course of the study, is -68.7 J / mol * K. 
To achieve a significant effect in continuous adsorption processes, it is necessary that adsorbents 
with high adsorption and selective ability in relation to the target component, also had the ability 
to quickly restore their adsorption properties, i.e. to regeneration. 
The use of effective regeneration methods can increase the service life of adsorbents and 
reduce the operating costs of cleaning gas streams. On the other hand, when choosing the type of 
adsorbent, one should take into account the effect of its structure not only on adsorption, as noted 
earlier, but also on regeneration.
