Abstract:
. Studies of the parameters of fiber optical fibers with the preservation of polarization 
under external influence, i.e. the dependence of the ellipticity angle ψ on the magnitude of the 
external uniaxial transverse and longitudinal deformation F, which showed a linear 
dependence within the experimental error (~1%). In the light of the proposed hypothesis about 
the greater efficiency of phase modulation of light radiation in low-mode fibers compared with 
single-mode fiber fibers, the results of measurements of phase shifts with uniaxial transverse 
deformations performed for different sections of the fiber become obvious. The results were 
obtained with multiple measurements of the value ψ depending on the force F, both in the 
process of increasing the load and decreasing it. The high sensitivity of the low-mode mode of 
operation of the optical fiber to anisotropic external influences, compared with the single-mode 
mode of operation of the same fiber, is shown. This result is of great practical value in the 
development and manufacture of highly sensitive fiber-optic sensors of various physical 
quantities
