ACADEMIC RECOMMENDATION FORM GUIDELINES

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) provides scholarships for talented students from around the world to attend U.S. universities and colleges for one semester of undergraduate, non-degree study. The Global UGRAD program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is supported by the people of the United States. The program is administered through the joint efforts of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the U.S. Embassies, and World Learning.
To be completed by a University Professor familiar with the student’s work in his or her major field of study. Recommendations should not be from family members or friends.
Instructions: Your statement will be given considerable importance by the American universities and colleges reviewing the student’s application, and therefore should be as complete and detailed as possible. Please, include your candid evaluation of the student’s ability to participate in such an exchange program by indicating:

1. 
   in what context you know the student;
   
2. 
   how you would describe the mentality and adaptability of the student in difficult situations;
   
3. 
   the qualities that would make the student a successful exchange student including their interaction with others.
   

This recommendation should be typewritten or clearly printed in English, if possible. If not in English, an accurate translation must be attached. You do not have to use this form for your recommendation but please include all of the information below if you do not submit your recommendation on this form.

Hello Sir /Madam!
I am an English teacher at the National University of Uzbekistan. And I am very pleased to write this letter to you. Because of our student that I really want to offer you is the student who is just as worthy to be invited for such programs.
I have known this student (Muhammadamin) for a year. During this time, I became observed that Muhammadamin was very diligent and very eager to learn new things. as proof of this, I can say that this student had come later to the University than the other students in the beginning of the studying period due to illness. Because of this, his grades were lower in the first semester. However, he managed to catch up with other students in the second semester without losing motivation to study and in some subjects he was able to be much quicker to learn and digest the themes. Muhammadamin stands out from the others with his strong memory in lessons and his quick and easy comprehension of topics. Even in class he surprised everyone by memorizing the map of fifty states of America perfectly with their locations over a night. In addition to his diligence in studying, his ability to make other peers follow and his strong leadership skills are also noteworthy. In the first semester I was a new teacher When I asked the students in class that weather there was a leader in their group and someone you all respect. I will never forget that they all sincerely shouted: “Muhammadamin” in unison. He has won the respect of all peers because of his kindness and taking on the most difficult responsibilities on himself as an example.

i know Muhammadamin from the teaching process that he is very interested in learning and teaching foreign languages. He is very interested in teaching methodology of developed countries, especially American education system in order to create innovative ways and facilities for learners in his field. He had not previously applied for the UGRAD program. And I hope that at the first opportunity he will be in America as he wishes, and will return by learning more about the culture and history of America, as well as many innovations in his field. And it will a foundation for his future career. Because of his leadership ability, creativity, self-confidence and self-controlling, he is right student for UGRAD program.
