“KITABI-DEDE GORGUD” AND TALES
Summary
The comparative analysis of the epos “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” with epic folklore, including tales reveal to investigate the relation and influence among genres. In the article the similar motives and plots of tales and parts of “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” are analyzed comparatively.
The magical birth of the hero takes important part in the tales. The heroes from the epos “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” Bugaj, Beyrek, Basat are in the row with the same heroes. These heroes whom Dede Gorgud give the name are mysterious- magical. In the tale variant of the plot about Basat the hero having a magical sword kneaded with the lion’s milk can defeat Tepegoz.
In some tales the hero does extra-ordinary terms, can pass the difficult trials. Only those who can do the demanded terms reach their wishes. Some of these tales are about the wedding ceremony, testing of the fiance takes the imporatnt place here. The plot of the part “Ganli goja oglu Ganturali” is the similar with these tales. But in the part “Bayboreyin oglu Bamsi Beyrek” the hero as in many tales changing his clothes passes the trials.
Here the important feature of the folklore poetics – the importance of the clothes changing act in order to realize some problems is reflected. One can often meet this problem in other genres of folklore. The hero changing his clothes achieves his aim. During the different trials he shows himself and hides his real image.
Some parts of the epos “Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” have the same tale plots in common about brothers. In such tales created in this subject the braveness of the small brother is attracted more vividly. The small brother is idealized for his bravery, benevolence, kindness even for his sensibleness. The part “Ushun goja oglu Sayrak” attracts the attention as the part reflecting the bravery of the small brother, his respect and love to the elder brother. It is also come to the conclusion that such similar motives and plots are nourished from the first believes and thoughts.
