ANSWERS
During the coronavirus lockdown, I was staying at home all day round, feeling bored and isolated. Well, just like all of us, I think. All I could do was flip through the photos from my past trips, recalling the good old days when I could travel wherever I liked and, of course, dreaming of the moment when I could book my next trip. It was then when I decided to make the list of countries to visit once the lockdown was over.
I started surfing the net, reading travel blogs and watching some videos on YouTube. Well, one of the countries I read about was Cuba. While surfing the net, I saw lots of pictures of its remarkable mountains, spectacular steep limestone hills, vast tobacco plantations, butter-soft balmy beaches, lush green countryside, and colorful colonial cities. At some point, I realized that there was something about Cuba that made me put it on the top of my travel wish list.
Many travellers say that it's a truly unique place. The thing is the country was isolated from the rest of the world for many years. And despite the fact that most restrictions were lifted some years ago, it hasn't changed a lot since then. Everyone says it seems to be lost in time, somewhere in the 1950's. I mean everyone generally describes it as a place with strains of exotic rhythms such as salsa and rumba emanating from every corner, men smoking cigars and drinking rum, old American cars in the streets and the exquisite colonial architecture with peeling paint in Old Havana. For me, it's really hard to believe that anything like that is possible in our modern world. So I want to experience it for myself.
At the moment, I don't know more than that, and I'm not planning to continue my research 'cause if I learn everything before visiting it, there will be nothing left to discover when I go there one day. It won't be interesting. I know myself. So I really want to know more about this country, but I don't want to explore it from my couch.
