ANSWERS
The comedy which made me laugh throughout the movie until the very end is Bad Boys For Life. I watched it at the cinema shortly before the coronavirus outbreak. And, by the way, I haven't been to the cinema since that time.
It's a conventional cop movie. The plot is somewhat daft and predictable, but the movie stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence who are comedy geniuses and therefore they can turn any movie into a belly-laugh comedy. In Bad Boys For Life, Will Smith's Mike and Martin Larence's Markus are still Miami detectives. I'm saying 'still' as it's the third film in a trilogy. So they're a little older, of course. Marcus has become a grandfather and wants to retire. But Isabel Aretas, widow of cartel kingpin Benito, escapes from a Mexican prison and sends her son Armando to Miami to assassinate the people responsible for his father's arrest and eventual death in prison. Isabel demands that Armando kill Miami detective Mike Lowrey last. So the two detectives re-unite one last time to investigate a string of murders tied to Mike's past.
I laughed for two straight hours. The funny bits are funny. The serious bits are even funnier. I think it's a combination of situation, sharp jokes, and actors' performance that make it absolutely uproarious. Just look at the expressions on Martin Larence's face, and you'll laugh hysterically. Lawrence is a brilliant actor who can tell an entire story on his face in one reaction shot. Also, the movie is packed with funny moments. I'll describe my favourite one. We see Mike and Marcus flying at unbelievable velocity, and pulling off some insane driving stunts as Mike makes his way to their final destination. And even though Mike drives his Porsche recklessly, the car isn't even scratched. But then he parks the car, Martin Lawrence's Markus opens the door and ruins it by whacking it into a hydrant. It's silly, but it evokes explosive laughter. And I think another reason why the movie is truly one of the best comedies ever made is that the jokes are fresh and in the moment'. Many jokes are relatable. I mean everyone can recognise themselves.
