ANSWERS
Last year I attended the biggest annual trade fair in my industry. I wanted to evaluate products, suppliers, and competitors. I was planning to place some orders and generate some business contacts. So I was really looking forward to attending this event.
Well, the venue was cool. The trade fair displayed a broad range of product categories. There were a lot of exhibitors. The only thing that was not in congruence with the event was music.
I think that everyone knows that music is an important factor in creating a specific mood for an event and that different types of music affects behaviour within a specific environment. If I organized a trade fair, I would want people to linger chat at stalls. So I would probably want to opt for slower, softer sounds to keep the pace steady and encourage more conversations. But they played some fast paced electronic music which, of course, made people move faster. It was like I was in a nightclub rather than at a trade fair. What's more, the music was way too loud. I had to speak up in order to be heard by people I wanted to talk to. It was unbearable. The music was so loud that I thought it would make my ears bleed. So after an hour or so all I wanted was to leave. And this music thundered in my ears till the end of the day.
