Deployment of Telework in European Public Administrations: An Overview

The environmental office of one of our ‘pre-test cases’, the local authorities in Linköping, has
studied the reduction of toxic agents per telecommuting member of their own department. Internal
and external promotion and monitoring of a reduction in pollution and energy costs is also part of
projects as in the North Netherlands, in Rome, Espoo town or in Stockholm. Hence, few of our
practitioners, in contrast to proposals coming from literature and EU-funded public events, do not
have any ambitions to promote their telework schemes in a public mission.
