Rahimkulikhan madrasah

Madrasah was built in 1843 by Rahimkulihanom (1842-1845) during his reign in Khiva. Madrasah operated until 1930 and was destroyed around 1940. It is located on the territory of Dishan Qala, the Palvan gate of Ichan Kala, opposite the mosque of Seyyed Niaz Shalykarbaya north. The territory of the madrasah is now included in the territory of the central market of Khiva. Appearance of madrasah of Rahimkulikhan in old photos is a two-storey building from the front, with a high portal, on both sides of which there are angular towers guldasta. The rest of the madrasah is one-storey premises of hujras, covered with "Balkhi" arches, facing the entrance door to the courtyard of the trapezoid form. Domed premises of winter mosques and audience (darshana) are located on the left and right of the entrance portal on both sides of mionsaray (lobby), the central front facade of the madrasa was decorated with blue and white tiles with patterns of Khiva.

Rahimkulikhan had a son named Isa tyurya, for some time he was hokim of Tashauz (city in Turkmenistan) and built a mausoleum near Pahlavan Mahmud madrasah afrer himself, called "Mazar Sheriff" ("Tomb of the Noble"). People have such legend about it. They say that Isa tyurya during his pilgrimage to Mecca, fell ill in the city of Istanbul, while seated in his kazhava (type of stretcher to carry rulers and distinguished persons of the yard) and like that was taken to the Hajj and brought back. On his return to Khiva, he told about what had happened to khan. Mohammed Sani Rahimkhan (Feruz), while sitting on the Khan's throne, said to Isa tyurya "pilgrimage have to undergo difficulties of the way." It took some time, Isa tyurya following the Khan's advice, got well-prepared and again went on a pilgrimage (hajj) to Mecca. Returning from Hajj Isa tyurya fell ill again, but in the city of Mazar Sherif (city in northern Afghanistan). Arriving after a recovery in Khiva, he built small madrasah in honor of the prince of the city for their relatives, called "Mazar Sheriff."
