• This holiday in independant Uzbekistan is celebrated in honour of creation of own Army forces.In Uzbekistan January 14 is marked as the Day of defenders of Motherland
• It is the professuonal holiday of military men because of January 14 1992 the Army forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan were established.

• Uzbekistan’s Defenders day is considered a major public holiday in Uzbekistan,but it is not a day-off.Women often give presents and postcards to their male relatives includeing those who never served in the military.

• Many women also congratulate their male colleague and schoolboys may receive small gifts from their female classmates.
