Part XXIII. Extortion and Blackmail 
Section 317 
1.   Any person who, with the intention of benefitting himself or another unlawfully, compels a person 
by an act of violence or by threat of violence, to surrender any property belonging in whole or in 
part to that person or to a third party, or to incur a debt or relinquish a claim to a debt, or to make 
available data, shall be guilty of extortion and shall be liable to a term of imprisonment not 
exceeding nine years or a fine of the fifth category.

2.   Any person who exercises the coercion, referred to in subsection (1), by threatening that data 
stored by means of a computerised device or system will be rendered unusable or will be disabled, 
or erased, shall be liable to the same punishment.  
3.  The provisions of section 312(2) and (3) shall apply to this serious offence.
