Section 178 
1.  Any person who gives a gift or makes a promise to a judge or provides or offers him a service with 
a view to exercising influence on the decision in a case before his court, shall be liable to a term of 
imprisonment not exceeding six years or a fine of the fifth category. 
2.   If the gift is given or the promise is made or the service is provided or offered with a view to 
obtaining a conviction in a criminal case, the offender shall be liable to a term of imprisonment not 
exceeding nine years or a fine of the fifth category. 
3.  The offender may be disqualified from the practice of that profession if he commits any of the 
serious offences defined in this section in the practice of his profession. 
4.   Disqualification from the rights listed in section 28(1)(1°), (2°) and (4°) may be imposed.
