Section 172 
1. Any person who intentionally and unlawfully introduces any substance into a drinking water supply 
installation or a water supply pipe shared by or with others, or frustrates the production of drinking 
water in or the supply of drinking water from the public drinking water supply shall be liable to:  
1°.  a term of imprisonment not exceeding twelve years or a fine of the fifth category, if such act is 
likely to endanger another person; 
2°.  a term of imprisonment not exceeding fifteen years or a fine of the fifth category, if such act is 
likely to endanger the life of another person or the offence results in the death of a person. 
 
2.   Any person who intentionally damages or renders unusable any public drinking water supply 
facility, causes the defective functioning or operation of such facility or frustrates a safety measure 
taken in respect of such system, shall be liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year 
or a fine of the fourth category, if such act is likely to interfere with or disrupt the public drinking 
water supply.
