Critical report on the story “The Last Leaf.”
Well, When I read the story, I realised that it is really great book to read and
It's author is O.Henry. In addition, The story is set in Greenwich
Village during a pneumonia epidemic. It tells the story of an old artist who saves the life of a young neighbouring artist, dying of pneumonia, by giving her the will to live. Through her window she can see an old ivy creeper (growing on a nearby wall), gradually shedding its leaves as autumn turns into winter, and she has taken the thought into her head that she will die when the last leaf falls. The leaves fall day by day, but the last lone leaf stays on for several days. The ill woman's health quickly recovers. At the story's end, we learn that the old artist, who always wanted to produce a masterpiece painting but had never had any success, spent considerable time painting with great realism a leaf on the wall for the whole night. Furthermore, the old artist himself dies of pneumonia contracted while being out in the wet and cold.
I read this strory two days and I reacted as well as I feel myself emotionally .
The story is based on the theme that life is precious and faith and hope should never be lost. We come across many hindrances in life and they should be overcome by fighting back in high spirits. Depression can lead to disaster even when the situation is not bad.
Yes, definitely. After reading the last leaf i realize we should help others, meaning of a masterpeice and we should never loose hope. The moral of the story the last leaf by o Henry is that even if we have to face bad things, we should always help our loved ones.
2. Critical report on the story “The Gift of Magi.”
1.Well, "The gift of Magi" story is well-written strory by O.Henry.The main themes in "The Gift of the Magi" are generosity, love, and wealth. Generosity: Generosity drives both Jim and Della, who, despite living in poverty, want to give each other meaningful gifts.
2.This story takes me 12 hours totally and also the moral lesson in the story “The Gift of the Magi” is that people are willing to give up what means the most to them for the person they love. In the story, the couple acts on impulse as each strives to please their spouse.
3.The lesson of “The Gift of the Magi” is that a sacrifice is valuable if it is in the service of something greater. When that sacrifice is someone's life, it is up to us to make sure the greater good is achieved. The story reminds us
that the most valuable gifts come from love.
4.Yes, it is very much worth reading. I’ve read it two times. I will add a personal anecdote to this answer. It is a story of a impecunious young couple named Della and Jim who were madly in love and went to great lengths to give the other one an epic Christmas present.he most valuable gifts come from love.
3. Critical report on the story “Cat in the Rain.”
1.Well, The theme of Hemingway's short story "Cat in the Rain" is isolation, public and personal isolation. George and his unnamed "American wide," also called "American girl" by the narrator, come to vacation in Italy near the sea, by a "public garden," and by a "war monument."
I read this story two times in week and it was full of information about Americans. The cat has a twofold meaning to the story and the American woman. First, the cat symbolizes how human beings are often faced with larger, more hostile forces than they can contend with on their own.
Second, the cat symbolizes the situation of the women in her relationship.
“Cat in the Rain” is a short story about an American couple on vacation in
Italy set in or around the couple's hotel, which faces the sea as well as the "public garden and the war monument". Throughout the story it rains, leaving the couple trapped in their hotel room.
Yes, it is worth to read bacause of its degree.
4. Critical report on the poem “Miracle.”
WWalt Whitman
Miracles by Walt Whitman
1.For centuries, people have had differing opinions about miracles. Have any miracles ever really happened? Or is everything at the mercy
of chance? Across all cultures, peoples, and time periods, there have been stories of miracles. In the Israeli culture alone, there are stories of Moses calling down plagues upon Egypt and parting the red sea to lead the people to freedom. Many stories like this are told across cultures. And then there are the miracles of Jesus, which spearheaded the movement of Christianity across the world. Today, it is difficult to know whether or not miracles have ever really happened.
2.it takes me 2 hours to read and anderstand fully. Moreover this, he did consider all things as a miracle and often hinted at the idea of a creator, but the overall theme of much of his poetry reveals his regard for humanity and nature. This poem reveals his awe of nature and humanity. He is awed by trees, the sky, the ocean, animals, and most of all, humanity.
The poet has given a wonderful and insightful message. The poet in his poem tells the readers that animals are far more contented and wiser than the human beings.
Yes of course because I learnt so many things from the poem.
