Conclusion
In our work, we considered the main provisions of poetics and aesthetics of romanticism, distinguished American, named the main representatives, as well as researchers who were engaged in this direction. In the course of our work, we solved the tasks: got acquainted with research literature on American romanticism; derived a working definition of romanticism; identified and established a common foundation - the poetics and aesthetics of romanticism, to which Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Poe belong; defined the criteria, text levels by which a comparative analysis of works was carried out: chronotop, The real unity. The real unity. Ideal is inside the real one, not outside it or above it. Having carried out a comparative comparative analysis of "Homeland" and "Oval Portrait", we identified similarities and differences between the themes, motives, plots and images of these fiction texts. Based on the data obtained, it can be said that Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Poe not only followed the romantic tradition, but also contributed to the development of romanticism and the literary process as a whole. Their innovation was primarily that they sharply criticized the concept of romantic two-worldism, which largely determines the poetics and aesthetics of romanticism. Hawthorne and Poe deconstructed the binary opposition underlying the concept of two-worldism. Thus, the hypothesis we put forward at the beginning of the work was confirmed: both authors managed to transform the romantic tradition by outlined new ways of development of American literature in the second half of the XIX century and beyond.
