Conclusion 
In this paper, the terminology, differences and challenges of the ALSN and ETCS were discussed. One of the most 
important – and usually overlooked – differences between them is associated with their scope.

A review of modern systems for regulating train traffic and their capabilities to ensure greater speed and traffic intensity 
is carried out.
Perspectives for the integration of ALS systems within the European Train Management System ETCS are 
considered. 
The main directions of development of train traffic control systems are improving the safety and reliability of traffic, 
focusing on microprocessor technology, expanding the functionality and the amount of transmitted signal information, 
the possibility of unifying equipment modules for the application of industrial methods of maintenance and repair.
