Educational institution - an institution where instruction is given to children or adults
Educational technology - any instructional aid or media teachers use to support the teaching and learning process
Foreign language – a language which is not normally used for communication in a particular society. Thus English is a foreign language in France and Spanish is a foreign language in Germany.
Game - an organized activity that usually has the following properties: a) a particular task or objective; b) a set of rules; c) competition between players; d) communication between players by spoken or written language.
Handout, worksheet - A piece of paper with exercises, activities or tasks on it that a teacher gives to learners for a range of reasons during a class or for reference or homework
Highlighting - marking key words or sections in a passage when reading with the use of a pen, making them easier to identify or remember when studying or reviewing
Ice-breaker - an introductory activity that a teacher uses at the start of a new course so that learners can get to know each other.
Inductive learning - learning to apply the rules of a language by experiencing the language in use, rather than by having the rules explained or by consciously deducing the rules.
Junior - type of primary school which caters only for pupils aged between 7 and 11
Key word/language – a word or aspect of language in a piece of discourse or text, which is important for understanding the text
Learning style - the way in which an individual learner naturally prefers to learn something. There are many learning styles.
