Today, learning a new language is becoming commonplace among people. So, there is a wide-held belief that children should be taught a foreign language as early as possible. While some might contradict this argument, I overall agree with this statement due to manifold reasons.

Admittedly, gaining a new language can come in handy for youngsters to broaden their horizons. As a first point, early period of childhood is far more paramount in order to catch a foreign language for children. Since it is hardly difficult for them, children are more likely to memorize and understand new language easily as their brain can remember new words in short bursts compared to their older counterparts. Additionally, children are the ones who have rather clear mind than those in adolescence stage. That is to say, juveniles have no worries about work or personal life as they could concentrate more on their studies as well as learning another language. Since children are open-minded, learning a new language could be somehow straightforward.

Nonetheless, this does not mean that children should learn second language in their early stage. To begin with, youngsters might not be able to focus their attention on another language. This is mainly because, they are starting their studies at early ages about 6 or 7. At this time, children are often made to learn their mother tongue language. Should they be taught just another language, this could bring about the mixing up among children. This means that they can then easily get confused as another language might seem to be an extra burden for their early education. In this case, learning a new language can be somewhat complex process for younger children.

In conclusion, while language acquisition at an early age can be detrimental to some extent, I overall feel that it could be advantageous for children, as they are more intelligent than the elderly.
