Daily chemicals manufacturing industry

1. Overall scale and distribution

In February 2008, there were 1,431 enterprises in daily chemicals manufacturing industry, with 24,900 employees, a year-on-year growth of 5.21%. The total assets value reached 133.4 billion yuan, up by 16.51% on a year-on-year basis. The total indebtedness was 67.2 billion yuan, up by 16.17% on a year-on-year basis. In November 2008, there were 1,501 enterprises in daily chemicals manufacturing industry, with 27,500 employees down by 8.49% year-on-year. The total assets value reached 149.9 billion yuan, up by 13.20% year-on-year. The total indebtedness was 71.6 billion yuan, up by 6.40% on a year-on-year basis.

2. Production and sales

The total output value of daily chemicals manufacturing industry reached 28.185 billion yuan in February 2008, up by 17.43% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative output value was 193.376 billion yuan in November, a year-on-year increase of 18.02%. The total output value kept a very fast growth. In February, the sales value of daily chemicals manufacturing industry stood at 27.394 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.19%. The cumulative sales value was 187.622 billion yuan in November, a year-on-year increase of 18.55%. The sales-output ratio of daily chemicals manufacturing industry was 97.20% in February, and 97.05% in November. The industry made 9.978 billion yuan of manufactured products in February, up by 11.76% on a year-on-year basis, and 13.248 billion yuan in November, up by 28.35% on a year-on-year basis.

3. Costs and expenses

The sales costs of daily chemicals manufacturing industry in February 2008 were 17.415 billion yuan, up by 22.02% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative sales costs reached 122.820 billion yuan in November, up by 19.85% on a year-on-year basis. The sales expense in February approached 5.543 billion yuan, up by 16.68% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative sales expense in November was 33.164 billion yuan, up by14.81% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the management expenses and financial costs of daily chemicals manufacturing industry were 1.795 billion yuan and 55 million yuan respectively, up by 21.81% and down by 46.23% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative management expenses and financial costs in November were 111.088 billion yuan and 640 million yuan respectively, up by 16.57% and 9.47% on a year-on-year basis.

4. Profits

In February 2008, the cumulative profits of daily chemicals manufacturing industry reached 2.621 billion yuan, up by 16.78% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative profits were 18.598 billion yuan, up by 11.84% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, 319 enterprises or 22.29% of all the companies suffered losses. In November, the cumulative number of enterprises in the red was 298 or 19.85% of all the companies. The loss-suffering scale was declining. In February, the total loss reached 242 million yuan, down by 4.19% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative loss stood at 1.337 billion yuan, up by 19.67% on a year-on-year basis.

5. Operation performance

In February 2008, the product sales revenue of daily chemicals manufacturing industry grew at 19.19%, down by 6.77 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the product sales revenue grew at 18.55%, up by 0.17 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the value-added ratio of capital maintenance was 116.87%, up by 4.59 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the ratio became 120.23%, up by 2.57 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the asset-liability ratio of daily chemicals manufacturing industry was 50.39%, down by 0.09 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In November, the asset-liability ratio was 47.75%, down by 3.27 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the net amount growth rate of accounts receivable was 14.95%, up by 1.84 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the rate was 10.41%, down by 5.96 percentage points on a year-on-year basis.

6. Production and sales by region

In 2008, Guangdong achieved 77.504 billion yuan output value of daily chemicals manufacturing industry, accounting for 40.08% of the industry's total output, the highest in the country, up by 18.81% on a year-on-year basis. The total output value of Jiangsu was 20.350 billion yuan, accounting for 10.52%, up by 14.16% on a year-on-year basis. The total output value of this industry was relatively large in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, and Sichuan. The total output value and sales value were small in Ningxia, Tibet, Guizhou and Hainan. In this year, Tibet ranked the first in China in sales-output ratio of 146.68%, followed by Gansu, Hubei, Zhejiang and Heilongjiang. The ratio of Ningxia was 64.50% as the lowest in China. Inner Mongolia, Sichuan and Hainan had a relatively low sales-output ratio.
