Fully meshed topology In this topology, each routing node on the edge of a given
packet-switching network has a direct path to every other node on the cloud. Figure 21.2
shows a fully meshed topology.

This configuration clearly provides a high level of redundancy, but the costs are the highest.
So a fully meshed topology really isn’t viable in large packet-switched networks. Here are
some issues you’ll contend with using a fully meshed topology:

Many virtual circuits are required—one for every connection between routers, which
brings up the cost.
■
Configuration is more complex for routers without multicast support in non-broadcast
environments.
