The system of government.
The British parliament is one of the oldest in the world and in the most important part of Britain’s system of government with a constitutional monarch – Queen Elizabeth II - as a head state. It meets in the place of Westminster, beside the river Thames in London. This also known as the houses of parliament the British constitution, unlike those of most other countries, isn’t set up of a combination of lows and conventions. Conventions are rules and practices which are not legally enforceable, but which are regarded as vital to the working of government.
