The Irish republic is politically independent of the Britain government together the Irish republic and Britain are often refered as British isles. But this is the geographical name only not political one. In western Scotland there is a large chain of islands called Hebrides and Scottish mainland Orkney and Scotland islands. The landscape of Britain is mixture of highland and lowlands. Most of the highest mountains are in Scotland and Wales. They are Ben news, Gram ran mountain and Snowdonia. The south of England is lowland. There are many lakes and rivers in Britain. The longest rivers are Severn and Thames. the longest lakes are laugh Neigh and loch Ness in Scotland.
