Some results of botanical and phytoecological research in Kabardino–Balkaria over the past 
 25-30 years

The article summarizes the results of botanical and phytoecological studies in Kabardino–Balkaria 
over the past 25-30 years. The entire historical period of republic's territory research is more than 260 years 
and can be divided into five stages. Since the end of the twentieth century a purposeful study of plant biolog-
ical diversity as a basis for sustainable ecosystem development is carried out. Ecological and biological fea-
tures of rare and dominant species have been studied, and their life strategies have been established in condi-
tions of anthropogenic press. Macromycetes, lichens, leafy mosses, vascular plants of Kabardino–Balkaria 
were inventoried. Currently, a version of the re-edition of Kabardino–Balkaria Red Book has been prepared.
