The general properties are comparable with those of the powder clearcoat since the same materi-
als are used and the same chemical reactions for crosslinking take place. Besides the lower film 
thickness, there is another advantage relative to powder clearcoats, namely powder slurries can 
be cleaned more easily after contamination (filter processes). One disadvantage is that powder 
slurries are not as easy to recycle. Powder slurries were introduced into automotive OEM appli-
cation lines some years ago 
[170]
. Besides the aforementioned advantages, powder slurries are 
relatively expensive, due to the high effort required by and the cost of the two-step production 
process. Therefore, they have been unable to penetrate the automotive OEM coating market any 
further. The alternative to power slurries is clearcoats containing secondary dispersions with 
homogeneous particles.
