At one of the TED talks, the head of Twitter's Trust and Safety Team, Del Harvey, (2014), explains how she protects Twitter’s users from others and even from themselves. At first, she tells about the scale by comparing the number of tweets per day in two years: 2 million in 2009, 500 million in 2014, which is an incredibly big increase. Then she states that even though the vast majority of tweets (99.999 percent) doesn’t have any threatening data, a strange behavior of people, along with remaining tiny proportion, make her work demanding. After that she starts providing some real life tweet examples that can be understood differently regarding the person reading it. Even a common greeting among youngsters may seem offensive at first. Therefore, Del try to keep up-to-date with the latest trends in order not to spam inoffensive tweets. As well as, the security team at Twitter checks for many parameters before spamming accounts but they may make a mistake even after that so they check them on more time. One more thing Del Harvey do to avoid risks is imagining worse. Because an image of a cat can involve particular coordinates, which may lead to somebody’s death.
