RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS 

Nowadays,  the  problem  of  overcrowding  and  overcrowding  in  certain  cities  is  growing.  This 

phenomenon  is  called  “overtourism”  (excessive  tourism).  Overtourism  is  particularly  prevalent 

for  “global  cities”  [2],  unique  tourist  areas  and  facilities.The  World  Tourism  Organization 

(UNWTO) sees tourism opportunities as “the maximum number of people who can visit a tourist 

destination  at  the  same  time  without  destroying  the  physical,  economic  and  socio-cultural 

environment and reducing the quality of visitor satisfaction”. [25]. 

The  emergence  of  "smart  cities"  will  contribute  to  the  development  of  tourism,  smart 

destinations. Thus, at the end of 2015, Barcelona was recognized as the number one “smart city” 

in  the world; in  2017, Spain’s network of smart  cities consisted of 82 settlements. New York,
