The first chapter of the dissertation, entitled «Genesis and development of the genre of tetralogy in Uzbek prose» consists of two volumes. The volume «Stages of formation of tetralogy» summarizes the genesis of the genre of tetralogy, development factors, stages of formation, specifics, research in world and Uzbek literature, the author's position in historical tetralogy, the integrity of creative intent and historical truth, and genre laws.
Literary dictionaries and the opinions of novelists note the peculiarities of the artistic interpretation inherent in the nature of the novel-epic, the existence of specific rules of the genre. Academician B. Nazarov's comments on the reflection of genre elements in the tetralogy «The Great Reign» were noteworthy: “An appropriate epic artistic scale, interpretation, and image are required. In this sense, Muhammad Ali's tetralogy «The Great Reign» met all the basic requirements of the historical novel-epic, and it is the first literal tetralogy in the history of Uzbek literature»40. These ideas were indeed proved in the epic of the novel “The Great Reign”.
Uzbek novelism has gone through almost a hundred-year historical process. The foundation stone was laid for genre-compositional changes such as novel-dilogy41, novel-trilogy42, novel-tetralogy43, novel-pentalogy44, which are the successors of the tradition that has been formed in the past. It is true that some of the works contain contemporary problems, so we did not find it appropriate to cite them. However, if we evaluate the essence of the issue on the principle of internal and external developments of the genre, we are far from claiming that none of them was influenced by literature and did not refer to the creation of expression or text.
In the study of historical tetralogy, the study of it conditionally divided into four stages clarifies the theoretical considerations: the first stage, the time of the emergence of the first heroic epics; the second stage, epics created in medieval Renaissance literature; the third stage, the second half of the nineteenth century and the literature of the 30s and 40s of the twentieth century; the fourth stage, examples of historical tetralogy that illuminate the epic scale of the late twentieth and twenty-first century literature.
Tetralogy consists of a set of four works with relative independence in subject and composition, rather than a novel that is logically connected to each other (the ideological base of the work is organized in one center). This opinion is confirmed by the following concise description of academician A. Saidov: «Tetralogy is four literary or musical works with the same idea and content»45. In addition to the above consideration, the uniqueness of the creative ideological goal, the epic scale with a holistic concept, differs from other genres in that it reflects a certain process, a series of periods. It is also noteworthy that the artistic thinking in the image, the narrator's speech plays an important role in reflecting the life of the time, in shaping the artistic expression. Islamjon Yakubov, a well-known literary critic, commented on the factors that led to the emergence of Muhammad Ali's tetralogy: “This novel and the literary process that began in recent years in Uzbek literature to create the image of Sahibkiran ... firstly, due to the opportunities provided by the independence period, secondly, due to the inner aspirations and life observations of each artist, and thirdly due to literary and spiritual needs. In addition, the experience of unique works on historical themes in Uzbek literature, in particular in our novels, will serve as a strong basis for the emergence of the «Great Reign»46. The transformation of the history of Amir Temur's powerful statehood in Central Asia should be considered as a result of the gift of opportunity initiated by independence.
Regarding the form of the novel, which played an important role in the gradual development of historical tetralogy, we can cite the following comments of literary critic U. Jurakulov: “The novel does not take part in the processes of general synthesis and integration that take place in the development of literary genres, it is excluded from the cyclical movements of literary genres. At the same time, it influences the development of other genres, as well as their form and content”47. In these views of the literary critic, there is talk of the fact that the novel genre is separately and inextricably linked with other genres. Each of the four novels in Muhammad Ali's tetralogy embodies such features”.
The second volume of the chapter, entitled «Peculiarities of poetic experience in the creation of tetralogy», explores Muhammad Ali's mastery and research in the creation of historical works. It is safe to say that the author's approach to the historical theme begins with the epic «Light in the Dome» (1967). Thus, because of the continuous continuation of the creative process, the research in this lyrical series has created a great basis for the creation of prose works. Because the writer lives in an attempt to constantly, deepen and deepen the idea (creative intention). It is impossible to turn it into a work at the same time. Indeed, any masterpiece of art is born as a result of poetic experience, skill, talent and research accumulated over the years. As the well-known literary critic, K. Kahramanov noted, «Regardless of the genre in which the artist writes, he is constantly searching for a deeper rediscovery of the reality of life, recognizing that it is a category of words, artistic image, imagery, art, aesthetics»48.
Research in the Skills Department. When the writer touches on the historical subject, it is true that the great conqueror and commander, Amir Temur, and his work on the establishment of the kingdom were in front of his eyes. In particular, the «dialectic of the heart» plays an important role in the reconstruction of history (perception of the individual). During his lifetime, many historians, poets and writers wrote a number of works about Amir Temur. However, there were times when Sahibkiran Amir Temur wrote and was not satisfied with what was written. In order to fill this «gap in the heart,» he summoned Nizamiddin Shami, a Persian writer, historian, and clerk, and told him that «it should be written in a way that is understandable to the people, simple, fluent, and at the same time worthy of enlightenment»49. The purpose of quoting this source is that in Nizamiddin Shami's work «Zafarnoma» the personality of Amir Temur and his military campaigns, foreign and domestic political were developed in detail and beautifully. It is no secret that the writer Muhammad Ali, inspired by such works as «Zafarnoma», sharpened his poetic skills and talent, talent and experience.
